During an interview on News 18, Sunny Kaushal shared that his friendship with Taapsee Pannu goes way back. He reminisced about their first encounter while working together on Manmarziyaan. At that time, she threw a warm housewarming party which he attended, although he wasn’t quite sure why he was invited.
“Until today, I didn’t know why he invited me. Perhaps I was a spare guest for Vicky (laughs). Just joking! She indeed extended an invitation and messaged me about it. Her gesture was quite thoughtful.”

I’ve come to realize that there’s been a major transformation in our relationship. When I first met her, I knew her in a certain light. But once we started working together, things changed. I’ve learned so much more about her, and my appreciation for her has deepened. In fact, I jokingly admitted that my admiration for her has grown quite a bit during our collaboration.
The actor shared that he frequently banters with her and requested that she’d inform him if he overstepped boundaries. He highlighted the pleasure they derived from working together, which included daily amusement and the chance to deepen their understanding of the movie, the plot, and their personas.
Sunny revealed that her character Rani in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba closely mirrors her true self. She expressed, “I believe Rani is more of a sigma than an alpha. Sigmas are superior to alphas. They’re solitary wolves. Uncompromising yet conscious of their actions. And I’d say the same about Taapsee in real life.”
