Engaging with India Today recently, I, Janhvi Kapoor, expressed my uncertainty about whether the film industry has fully embraced me as an actor yet. Even if it has, it’s a aspect I haven’t consciously pondered over because acting has been my lifelong passion. I believe I’ve grown significantly from my debut role to where I am now, but how the industry perceives me is something I can’t gauge myself.

In the past, I could have followed a more predictable path by making commercial movies with wider reach, filled with songs, dance, and glamour. It would have come naturally to me and offered a higher probability of success and popularity. Yet, a few years ago, I made a deliberate choice to step out of my comfort zone and try something new, despite the greater risks and stakes involved.

Janhvi Kapoor calls Ulajh ‘high-risk’ film

Regarding selecting lesser-known projects, Kapoor confessed that she’s taken on a few risky films, with “Ulajh” being one of them.

1. She continued by mentioning that occasionally she makes lighthearted comments comparing Insta-Janhvi and the actor Janhvi, but she isn’t entirely sure how the industry perceives her. However, she can only vouch for herself that as she works on each film, her confidence grows on set since she believes she is capable of delivering what her director expects from her.

Janhvi added, “An artist’s creativity is stifled when external opinions or judgments come into play, forcing her to ponder matters that are not part of her artistic process.”

As an obsessed fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as I eagerly await the release of Ulajh, a film that promises to be nothing short of brilliant. This masterpiece, set to grace the silver screen on August 2, is the brainchild of talented director Sudhanshu Saria.
