Call of Duty’s new ‘thick’ skin is not what you’re thinking

Call of Duty’s new ‘thick’ skin is not what you’re thinking

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that the gaming world has come a long way since the days of Pong and Space Invaders. However, the latest developments in Call of Duty’s Warzone Mobile have left me scratching my head more than once. The ‘thick skin’ operator reward is no exception.

In 2024, I can’t help but notice that Call of Duty has been embracing its passionate fanbase with a flirtatious wink towards the world of Overwatch. It’s quite intriguing!

Previously, adjustments (nerfs) have been made to various characters, even those from superhero crossovers and Ghost Jeans, as it appears that none are immune to the enthusiastic gaze of Activision’s fanbase.

As a long-time gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the excitement surrounding the rumored new “thick” Operator for Warzone Mobile is palpable. However, let me clarify one thing – this new addition to the game isn’t going to be about lustful outfits or anything of that nature. Instead, it seems that the focus will be on creating a more immersive and engaging gaming experience for players like myself who have grown accustomed to the high-quality graphics and gameplay that Warzone has become known for.

Call of Duty’s new ‘thick’ skin definitely has the horn

In Warzone Mobile, a fresh operator reward titled “Tough Hide” will be introduced, available solely on Android and iOS devices. This exclusive skin can be obtained via The Keep, which is unique to Warzone Mobile and distinct from its cross-platform counterpart.

In Season 5, the Corso Hammer Horn operator skin, also known as the horned rhino, will be introduced to The Keep along with a blueprint for the DG-58 LSW. However, it has been nicknamed a ‘discount’ version of Rocksteady from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Despite its seemingly peaceful moniker, the rhinoceros indeed presents an intimidating figure in the wild and boasts a powerful final attack, a striking jungle-patterned hide that blends seamlessly with its environment, and a long, fearsome snout that would make even the fiercest creatures of Verdansk Mobile quiver with apprehension.

In the upcoming season, The Keep will gain strength with the arrival of the Ethereal Echoes and Mad Maskque packages, as well as regular customization perks. This announcement has sparked mixed reactions among fans. One fan expressed doubt saying, “What audience is this aimed at now?“, while another commented, “This is getting too excessive“.

In the past two years, Rhinos have been incorporated among a variety of animal hides included in Call of Duty, making it part of a menagerie that already includes gorillas, cats, rats, wolves, bunnies, orangutans, pigeons, dogs, sloths, and others.

It may be disappointing for you to find that the Rhino’s thick hide isn’t as you anticipated. Instead of being “jiggly” like many players are used to, the Rhino will likely crush you if you happen to gaze at its rough, wrinkled hindquarters.
