As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for movies, especially ones that delve into the making of iconic shows like Saturday Night Live (SNL), I can hardly contain my excitement for Jason Reitman’s upcoming film, “Saturday Night.” The fact that it’s set to release in October, smack dab in the midst of prime awards season, is just the cherry on top.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Jason Reitman’s movie, centered around the historic first night of Saturday Night Live, now has an official title and is set to grace our screens this fall!

I’m super excited to share that as a gamer and movie buff, Sony just announced that “Saturday Night” will be hitting theaters on October 11, right in the heart of awards season! Previously known by its working title, “SNL 1975”, it seems like we’re in for a treat. Can’t wait to see it!

Reitman is leading the Sony Pictures production centering around the events backstage before the first airing of the broadcast. The lineup features Gabriel LaBelle playing the role of Lorne Michaels, the series creator, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, a former NBC executive, and Rachel Sennott portraying Rosie Shuster, Michaels’ ex-wife and previous writer for SNL.

Reitman and Gil Kenan wrote the script for the movie, gathering insights from interviews with cast members, writers, and crew who were involved in the initial launch of the show that’s now celebrating its 50th season. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, and Peter Rice are producers for the film, while Erica Mills and JoAnn Perritano hold the positions of executive producers.

Showcasing the first cast members of Saturday Night Live include Dylan O’Brien playing Dan Aykroyd, Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Cory Michael Smith depicting Chevy Chase, Matt Wood representing John Belushi, Ella Hunt taking on Gilda Radner, Emily Fairn portraying Laraine Newman, and Kim Matula embodying Jane Curtin.

Additionally, in the film we find Nicholas Braun portraying Jim Henson, Kaia Gerber taking on the role of Jacqueline Carlin, J.K. Simmons acting as Milton Berle, and Finn Wolfhard playing a NBC page.
