Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Six – Every Movie & TV Show (So Far), Explained

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Six - Every Movie & TV Show (So Far), Explained

As an old-school gamer with decades of comic book and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) history under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation for Phase Six of the MCU. With over four decades since my first encounter with the Fantastic Four in their 1967 animated series, it’s heartening to see them finally getting their due on the big screen.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as we edge closer to the culmination of Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Though there are still some exciting TV shows and movies on the horizon from this entertainment powerhouse’s latest transformation, it’s never too early to peer into the crystal ball and speculate about what marvelous adventures await us during Phase Six.

Based on numerous announcements made during the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, it appears that there’s an exciting array of offerings in store for 2025 and beyond. Familiar and fresh faces will collaborate to bring forth the next installment of movies for viewers. For instance, the Russo brothers are set to guide the upcoming “Avengers” films, while a nostalgic revamp of “The Fantastic Four” is also on the horizon. Although some aspects of this universe may be experiencing difficulties, as evidenced by the turbulent pre-production phase of “Blade,” other components seem to be functioning smoothly and efficiently. Here are the four projects unveiled thus far for Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

“The Fantastic Four: Initial Strides” has been consistently progressing over the past few years, skillfully assembling a robust cast and establishing a tone that hints at thoughtfulness and attentiveness. To ensure authenticity, director Matt Shakman collaborated with specialists to determine the appropriate rock composition for Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

As a fellow gamer, I’m pumped to share some exciting news about Marvel’s first family! I’ll be joining forces with Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm) in bringing these iconic characters to life. We’ve got a formidable foe on our hands, as Ralph Ineson will bring Galactus to the screen—a cosmic being from another galaxy who devours planets whole by consuming their energy. Julia Garner will take on the role of Galactus’ herald, The Silver Surfer, in her Shalla-Bal form.

The upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie (releasing on July 25, 2025) is expected to delve into their origins, either by portraying them as a group of individuals discovering and mastering their powers or as an established team of crime fighters. This theory aligns with fan speculation about the film being a period piece. The specific plot details are yet to be revealed.

Blade

As a passionate gamer, I’ve been closely following the turbulent journey of the “Blade” remake, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the roller coaster ride, even among the Phase Six properties. Since its announcement in 2019, this project has experienced more than its fair share of creative setbacks. Talent has flowed in and out like a river, but one constant has remained – Mahershala Ali as our beloved vampire-slaying daywalker.

The movie has experienced two scheduled premieres, each passing without it being released, with at least one postponement due to SAG-AFTRA strikes. Five screenwriters – Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green – departed before Eric Pearson took over the writing duties in June 2024. At this point, no replacement has been found for the director who left the project, Yann Demange. Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo were initially part of the cast, but they both withdrew in 2024.

As a long-time Marvel fan with decades of comic book reading under my belt, I must say that the continued presence of “Blade” on Marvel Studios’ release schedule fills me with excitement and anticipation. Having grown up reading about Blade’s adventures in the comics and watching Wesley Snipes bring him to life on the big screen, I can hardly wait for Mia Goth to take on this iconic role.

Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars

The series of events culminates in the unveiling of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During Comic-Con, fans were taken aback when it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr., a previous Tony Stark actor, will portray him. This role seems to be a reunion for Downey, as he consented to take it on only if Joe and Anthony Russo returned to direct and produce the forthcoming “Avengers” movies. Stephen McFeely is also involved and has been assigned to write “Avengers 5.” Besides Downey, all four principal actors of “The Fantastic Four” are set to appear in both films.

For “Avengers 5,” no details about the plot have been disclosed yet, and nothing is known regarding the writer or plot for “Secret Wars” either. However, “Secret Wars” holds significant historical significance within the Marvel universe as it involves a unique scenario: The Beyonder, creating a planet, traps a mix of heroes and villains there, arming it with weapons, and commands them to fight each other until only one remains. This victor is then granted their heart’s desire. Throughout this struggle, alliances shift, and survival becomes the ultimate goal. This could make for an incredibly captivating tale.
