It was reported in early 2023 that a sequel to the movie M3GAN is underway, with actress Allison Williams and Violet McGraw set to reprise their roles as roboticist Gemma (the creator of M3GAN) and her niece Cady. Similarly, the crew involved in the production, including screenwriter Akela Cooper and director Gerard Johnstone, are also returning for this new project.

Last year, Johnstone shared his thoughts in Los Angeles about the sequels, stating, “They need a purpose to be made. This project was incredibly difficult to bring to life. After my pulse settled down, I realized there were many more things we wanted to express and accomplish. So, our aim is to continue moving in that direction and ensure that the second film resonates as much as the first one does. It’s both exhilarating and intimidating since technology evolves rapidly. He went on to say, “I’m unsure if there was a scene depicting this, but given the limited time we had, we didn’t have the opportunity to fully explore her thoughts and intricacies. It might sound quite intellectual and not entertaining, but I believe it could be enjoyable. My idea is to flesh out her character and introduce more layers to her personality.”

At the beginning of May, it was reported by Deadline that Ivanna Sakhno secured a significant role in the sequel for the series “Ahsoka”. In the past month, Timm Sharp (from “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”), Aristotle Athari (“Saturday Night Live”), and Jemaine Clement (“What We Do in the Shadows”) joined the production team. The film began official production last month as well, with Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps reprising their roles as Gemma’s colleagues, Cole and Tess respectively.

Johnstone stated during an interview with 1News that we filmed our movie three years ago, but technology has advanced significantly since then. Nowadays, we have tools like ChatGPT3 which allow for in-depth interactions with computers. For instance, my child and I used it to help us create a tale about a frog samurai. We’d ask it to make parts of the story funny or rhyme, and it would comply. It’s absolutely amazing! The unique aspect of our film is that it’s part of the ongoing dialogue about current events, and as more happens, there’s even more to discuss. That’s what makes working on a movie like this so exciting because we get another chance to do it.

When Will M3GAN 2.0 Open in Theaters?

Initially scheduled for a broad release on January 17, 2025, the second part was later moved to May 16, 2025, and then further delayed to June 27, 2025. The feature film is being produced by Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum under their combined production company.

The upcoming project titled SOULM8TE, set for release on January 2, 2026, is a captivating erotic thriller. This film, helmed by writer-director Kate Dolan (known for her work in You Are Not My Mother), follows the story of a man dealing with his wife’s recent demise by acquiring an artificially intelligent android.
