Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 to re-release in theaters on August 4, but there's more to it

As a dedicated film enthusiast with a soft spot for heart-touching narratives, I can wholeheartedly express my admiration for the upcoming re-release of Gadar 2, especially considering its inclusive approach towards audiences with hearing disabilities.

In the year 2023, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 was a tremendous success at the box office, leaving a significant mark. As we commemorate its first anniversary, the film is planning a return to cinemas for a special re-release. On August 4, this unique screening will be accessible to Deaf audiences through Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpretation.

To celebrate its first anniversary, theaters nationwide are set to re-screen Gadar 2 on August 4, 2024. This unique presentation includes Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpretation, catering to viewers with hearing impairments and enhancing their movie-going experience. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the film will be shown at selected PVR cinemas.

Sunny Deol, once again playing the legendary character Tara Singh, expressed to News 18 that “Gadar 2 holds a unique and cherished spot in my heart. It’s humbling to see the enduring affection and backing from viewers one year after its premiere. The re-release featuring Indian Sign Language translations aims to move even more hearts with this film.”

As I, Ameesha Patel, step back into the role of Sakina, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement. Being part of the Gadar films has been an extraordinary odyssey for me. I’m eager to resurrect Sakina’s tale on the silver screen once more, not just for any audience, but for a unique one that appreciates the depth and richness of her story. My hope is that this endeavor will inspire other filmmakers to create cinema that is both inclusive and accessible to all.

Amidst the tumultuous 1971 Indo-Pakistan conflict, the movie narrates Tara Singh’s (Sunny Deol) valiant endeavor to save his son, Charanjeet (Utkarsh Sharma), by traversing borders and surmounting numerous hurdles. The film garnered unprecedented acclaim, joining Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan as the top-grossing films of 2023, earning over Rs 500 crore at the domestic box office.
