The Rock Is Back To Work And Filming Mixed Martial Arts Movie The Smashing Machine, And I'm Loving The Cool Food And Views Of Japan

As a gamer who’s had the privilege of visiting Japan only through virtual reality so far, I can’t help but feel a pang of envy when I see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s latest Instagram posts from the Land of the Rising Sun. The views he shared are breathtakingly beautiful, making me wish I could hop on a time machine and join him for a real-life tour of Tokyo.

As a hardcore gamer and movie buff, it’s no secret that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stays on top of his game in both Hollywood and the WWE. From blockbuster roles to wrestling duties, he never slows down. But here’s what has me really excited – he’s been working on a new project, the mixed martial arts biopic, The Smashing Machine!

Part of our filming will be conducted in Tokyo, a city renowned worldwide for its distinct character. Notably, the location is famous for its breathtaking scenery and delectable cuisine. Regarding the landscape, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently posted a photo on Instagram capturing the Japanese panorama from his hotel room. The video, showcasing an stunning aerial view, can be viewed by checking out the linked post below:

It’s tough not to feel a pang of jealousy when checking out the stunning views posted by the Red Notice star. Japan has always been high on my travel bucket list, and this video could be just the push I need to finally organize a trip there. Plus, I’m hoping he’ll share footage of the temples he’ll film at later on. Moreover, not only the breathtaking scenery but also the second Instagram post from the Jungle Cruise actor has me yearning for Japan even more. He shared a video of an amazing sushi feast that looked incredibly appetizing and seemed to have him quite thrilled to devour it. Take a look at the video below if you’re curious:

Indulge yourself by finding someone who adores you as passionately as Dwayne Johnson does sushi. To be honest, everything looks absolutely scrumptious, and just seeing it makes my appetite grow! Indeed, Dwayne’s admiration for sushi is well-known, and often featured in his mouthwatering cheat meal posts. Given this, it’s not surprising that the celebrity sought out some genuine Japanese cuisine during his visit to the culturally rich nation.

Upon finalizing the new contract with Disney, The Rock has three aspirations he wishes to achieve, and it seems both Dole Whips and Tequila are part of the plan.

Beyond enjoying the views and cuisine, it’s clear that the A-list star is mindful that his primary focus in Japan is to shoot “The Smashing Machine.” This upcoming film from A24, directed and written by Benny Safdie, delves into the highs and lows of Mark Kerr, a former wrestler and MMA fighter portrayed by The Rock. Given Kerr’s history, those aware of his story know that he achieved great professional success but struggled with personal struggles throughout his career. The cast for this film includes Emily Blunt, Lyndsey Gavin, Ryan Bader, Oleksandr Usyk, and Satoshi Ishii, joining the wrestler-turned-actor in the production.

In June, Dwayne Johnson disclosed that he sustained an injury while working on the upcoming sports movie. After verifying the damage, Johnson shared a video on social media showing his injured elbow, which was severely bruised. The star of “Jumanji” revealed he had a ruptured bursa sac but assured it would heal. However, Johnson appears to be in high spirits based on his recent videos on social media.

Many of us would likely feel jubilant if we were filming a big movie in Japan, wouldn’t we? However, my comment at the end isn’t meant to be critical; I’m just happy that Dwayne Johnson is back at work and making the most of Japan’s attractions. Here’s wishing him and his team a prosperous, enjoyable, and accident-free shoot. By the way, I need to reserve some places now.

As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly waiting for the release of “The Smashing Machine,” but unfortunately, a specific date hasn’t been revealed just yet. Keep an eye on upcoming movie schedules for 2025, hoping it might make its appearance there. Until then, stay tuned for exciting new film releases slated for 2024!
