Lil Wayne's Handwritten Lyric Notebook Could Be Yours for $5 Million USD

As a die-hard fan who has followed Lil Wayne’s journey since his early days, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions seeing this old lyric notebook up for auction. On one hand, it’s a piece of history that offers a glimpse into the mind of a young Weezy, crafting tracks like “Grown Man” and “We on Fire.” On the other, it feels like a piece of our shared history is being commodified, especially given Wayne’s claims about its misplacement.

An old lyric notebook that belonged to a young Lil Wayne is up for auction for $5 million USD.

The object is currently up for auction at Moments in Time, and it was once owned by a 17-year-old Lil Wayne during the ’90s. Some of the lyrics from songs like “Grown Man,” featured on Tha Carter II, along with verses from “We on Fire” by Hot Boys, and a sketch were written in this notebook.

The auction price of $5 million for this particular notebook carries historical significance, as it was discovered in a car once belonging to an associate of Cash Money Records, specifically Wayne’s. An anonymous individual found it and kept it secure until 2019 when it went up for bid at $250,000 USD. Tunechi himself took legal measures to prevent the sale, claiming that the notebook was lost and accusing the finder of withholding it until a desirable financial opportunity presented itself. He also issued a cease and desist order against Moments in Time regarding the auction.

As an ardent supporter, I found myself in a situation where I had to defend my rights over a notebook using the age-old “finders keepers” principle in a court of law. Unfortunately for me, my counterpart remained silent throughout the ordeal, which led to the court deciding against him and officially declaring me as the rightful owner of the notebook.
