This upcoming series will be penned by Robert Levine, with Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick film franchise, serving as executive producer and helming the pilot episode. The storyline is set to unfold immediately after the events depicted in “John Wick: Chapter 4“, exploring the repercussions of John Wick’s presumed demise on the High Table, which is suggested to be in a precarious state as a result.
Simultaneously, a group of fresh personalities aim to establish their reputation. Meanwhile, established characters from the franchise seem loyal to the traditional system, subtly suggesting a potential return of beloved figures. According to reports, the series intends to blend old and new elements, propelling the Wick universe into a novel era. Although Keanu Reeves won’t act in the series, he will serve as an executive producer. The TV show’s plans, it is said, do not conflict with those for John Wick 5.
The John Wick Universe Continues To Grow
John Wick is part of a small number of contemporary film franchises that began with an original concept. Although it appeared that John Wick’s story concluded in Chapter 4, the franchise has continued to expand. Last year, for example, we saw The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a three-episode prequel series focusing on a young Winston taking charge of the iconic Continental Hotel. Additionally, the movie Ballerina, originally titled simply Ballerina, will be released in 2025 under its new title, John Wick Presents Ballerina.
The movie titled “John Wick: Under the High Table” serves as a bridge between “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4.” This film focuses on Rooney, a new assassin character played by Ana de Armas who was briefly mentioned in the third installment. In the upcoming movie “John Wick: Under the High Table,” there will be nods to previous films, including the forthcoming “Ballerina.” The fate of “The Continental” is somewhat uncertain, as Ian McShane, who played Winston in the John Wick films, criticized the miniseries as a money-making scheme. Notably, franchise director Chad Stahelski was not involved in this series. Despite McShane’s criticism and Stahelski’s absence, “John Wick: Under the High Table” turned out to be a success on Peacock, ranking among its most popular original series.
