‘Umbrella Academy’ Stars Tease “Ending That We’re All Proud Of” and Pitch Who Should Get a Spinoff

As a dedicated fan of The Umbrella Academy since its debut, I must say that this final season has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Seeing the cast reunite for the premiere was like witnessing a family reunion after a long, turbulent journey.

After five years and four seasons, The Umbrella Academy is coming to an end.

The cast members Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, and Ritu Arya gathered at the premiere of the show’s final season in Los Angeles on Monday. They shared their thoughts about the series’ upcoming conclusion, which is set to be released soon.

“Actress Raver-Lampman believes the show’s dedicated audience will appreciate the fitting conclusion. She mentioned that the writers faced a challenging task in wrapping up multiple storylines and concluding this family’s chapter, which she knows was no easy feat. Hence, she is confident that we all can be proud of the ending, and it will resonate positively with fans.”

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “This series is about a group of extraordinary kids, all adopted by the billionaire inventor Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who forms The Umbrella Academy to protect our world. By the way, Hopper believes that the finale wraps things up nicely and ties up most of the plot threads – he seems quite happy with how it turned out. As for Castañeda, he assures us there won’t be any cliffhangers; instead, we can expect a satisfying conclusion.”

Reflecting on wrapping up this significant phase of my professional journey – with our show skyrocketing as a Netflix sensation and having the privilege to conclude it at our own pace – I found myself cherishing each moment while portraying that character, understanding that every day could be longer but recognizing how valuable the time spent was.

Min echoed those bittersweet feelings, expressing that it was “pleasant because we’re extremely grateful to have concluded the season in the manner that we did, knowing it was our final one. However, it’s also bitter as this series has essentially become like a family to me – the cast and crew – and after being with these people for over six years, it’s difficult to part ways.”

As a gamer diving deep into the lore of this captivating universe, I’ve found myself brainstorming alongside the characters themselves. Min has sparked intrigue with an idea centered around Sheehan and Gallagher, while Hopper has pitched a tantalizing Hargreeves spinoff that would delve into his past before the Umbrella Academy even came to be.

Raver-Lampman expressed, “I believe this series features some extraordinary antagonists, and it’s difficult for me to choose. However, if I had to pick, I’d be thrilled to learn more about the origins of Gene and Jean, played by Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, or The Handler, played by Kate Walsh, particularly because I’m fascinated by her costumes. Additionally, I’m a big fan of Cameron Britton, who portrays Hazel, so I’d be more than happy to see him star in a spin-off.”

The Umbrella Academy season four hits Netflix on Thursday.
