Legends of Tomorrow Star Reveals Scrapped Season 8 Plot; Shares Hope For a Real Conclusion

As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for the Arrowverse and its quirky cast of characters, I must say I was deeply saddened by the untimely demise of “Legends of Tomorrow.” The show, in all its chaotic glory, had become a staple of my weekly viewing routine, and the abrupt ending left me yearning for more.

Among the major letdowns due to The CW’s cancellation of the Arrowverse was the unrealized potential of many storylines across several beloved DC shows. One such show was Legends of Tomorrow, which wrapped up in 2022 after seven thrilling seasons. Now, the series’ leading actress, Caity Lotz, has shared some insights about what was planned for her character, Sara Lance (White Canary), and her aspirations that these storylines might still be resolved someday.

In a recent chat with Screen Rant for the promotion of her latest film “The Lockdown”, Lotz shared some insights about what fans can expect from Season 8 of “Legends of Tomorrow”.

Absolutely, it was undeniably an exciting ending. Over the course of 140 episodes or so, I had a chance to delve into many aspects with her. The way the series was structured was captivating, offering endless possibilities because it was so unpredictable and full of unexpected twists. It kept me on my toes, encouraging me to anticipate the next crazy adventure.

In other words, we were expecting to be in prison at the start of the next season, and my pregnancy wasn’t going to follow the usual path. Instead of a normal pregnancy, it was planned to be an extraordinary alien-hybrid clone pregnancy with an unpredictable outcome. Hopefully, one day there will be a Legends movie that allows us to see this unique scenario unfold.

Could Legends of Tomorrow Get a Movie Conclusion?

During its cancellation, fans were deeply upset about the disappearance of “Legends of Tomorrow” for several reasons. Being one of the initial Arrowverse series to be discontinued, this unexpected move came as a shock, considering it was among The CW’s long-running shows. Moreover, the show ended on a cliffhanger and, in an ironic twist, the Season 7 finale had just introduced Donald Faison as Michael Jon Carter (Booster Gold), adding a fresh character to the cast right before the series concluded abruptly.

The cancellation sparked the typical online uproar, accompanied by a large petition for the series to receive a proper ending on Netflix instead. Yet, these efforts were unsuccessful, and as the rest of the Arrowverse collapsed, Legends of Tomorrow joined the ranks of the canceled shows.

Despite the story appearing to reach its conclusion, it’s evident that Lotz harbors aspirations for a film adaptation of the series in the future to properly wrap things up. With numerous franchises experiencing revivals and cancellations, it remains uncertain if Legends of Tomorrow has a chance to join the ranks of those that might be resuscitated once more, or if this time-traveling series is destined to remain stuck in the past forever.

In the upcoming years, Booster Gold is set to appear in the new DC Universe storyline, a fact that strongly suggests the series “Legends” may not return for some time.
