As a seasoned gamer and music enthusiast with over two decades of spinning tunes under my belt, the LEGO Ideas concept for the Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntable has me absolutely thrilled! I’ve seen, felt, and heard the real deal in countless DJ booths across continents, and this LEGO replica is an impressive nod to its legacy.
The iconic Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntable is the focus of a brand new LEGO Ideas concept.
Developed by Tamás Borján, who was involved in the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus concept as well, this build consists of approximately 2,215 components and incorporates design aspects that closely imitate the original 1979 model. It boasts functional elements for playback similar to the genuine article, such as a built-in display to manage the turntable, “Start” and “Stop” buttons controlling the motor, a platter sized to accommodate a 7″ vinyl LP, a functioning tonearm with an adjustable balance weight and anti-skating knob, an adjustable pitch slider, and a removable 45 RPM adaptor.
The innovator penned about the iconic turntable that transformed both radio and dance club DJ scenes. First introduced in 1972 as the SL-1200, an improved version, the SL-1200 MK2, was unveiled in 1979, swiftly establishing itself as the go-to turntable for DJing and scratching.
