Triptii Dimri thought she would be very 'famous' after Laila Majnu's release but was heartbroken for THIS reason: 'Galti ho gayi, kaash...'

As I reflect upon my journey through the world of cinema, I find myself reminiscing about the enchanting tale of Laila Majnu, a story that resonated deeply with me and my co-star, Avinash Tiwary. Although our romantic masterpiece didn’t quite capture the hearts of the masses in 2018 as we had hoped, it has since found its place among those who cherish meaningful cinema.

2018’s romantic movie starring Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary, Laila Majnu, had a modest run at the box office, but has garnered a significant amount of affection over time. Initially, Triptii had high expectations of becoming very famous following the film’s release, but was disappointed by its underperformance. However, she has since learned that many people regret not watching it in theaters, as they now express their admiration for the movie.

On August 8, 2024, actors Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary attended an event in Mumbai prior to the cinema hall release of Laila Majnu in India. Discussing the film’s underperformance in 2018, Triptii shared that she and Avinash were quite disappointed by it. The actress confessed that she had feared her newfound fame from Laila Majnu would prevent her from shopping for groceries. She stated, “I thought I’d be so famous that I wouldn’t even be able to step into a store to buy vegetables.”

Although the movie wasn’t widely viewed in theaters initially, it has gained recognition over time.

At the event, Triptii conveyed, “When people say, ‘I messed up, if only I could have watched it on the big screen. What a great movie!’ it seems like they’re acknowledging its quality but not its brightness. In our film, we will use the line to express this sentiment, ‘Our story has already been penned.'”

In simpler terms, Avinash Tiwary shared memories of their film set days. He disclosed that during their four-month shoot, he prepared and provided five cups of tea for Triptii each day. Jokingly, he mentioned that since Triptii didn’t have a boyfriend at the time, he took care of her needs in this way. He also acknowledged his role in helping her deliver a great performance in the movie.

Under the direction of Sajid Ali, the romantic drama “Laila Majnu” is being brought back to screens by producers Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Preety Ali. The film, originally presented by Imtiaz Ali, is slated for re-release on August 9, 2024.
