Darcy, a regular guest on CNN discussing media matters and author of the Reliable Sources Newsletter, has recently started his own newsletter titled Status, which landed in subscribers’ inboxes this Thursday morning.
Based on the initial email, Status positions itself as a comprehensive nightly update that keeps readers informed about the true events unfolding within influential media circles, similar to Reliable Sources. Like Reliable Sources, Status plans to publish fresh updates from Sunday through Thursday.
As a gamer diving into the digital realm of our global village, I vow to deliver raw, gritty insights into the Fourth Estate, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley. No sweet talk, no soft blows, no coddling fragile egos – just the straight-up facts about the game-changers shaping our world.
In the meantime, a representative from CNN has announced that the Reliable Sources newsletter will temporarily pause, but it will make a comeback in the autumn, featuring a different author.
“CNN’s CEO, Mark Thompson, praised Oliver for becoming a strong yet unbiased figure in media journalism and commentary. He always speaks his mind truthfully, according to Thompson. Moreover, Oliver has skillfully guided CNN’s Reliable Sources newsletter, and we wish him the best of luck in his upcoming business endeavor,” (paraphrased statement).
The newsletter titled “Reliable Sources” was originally developed by Brian Stelter, who previously hosted the CNN television program with the same name. When Stelter departed from CNN about two years ago, ownership of the newsletter passed on to Darcy.
