‘Eyes of Tammy Faye’ Actor Gabriel Olds Arrested in Los Angeles on Multiple Rape Charges

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I must say this real-life drama is more chilling than any game I’ve ever played. The character arc of Gabriel Olds, from Yale alum to Hollywood star, to the accused perpetrator of heinous crimes, is a tragic twist that would give even the most seasoned screenwriter pause.

Actor Gabriel Olds, recognized for his numerous supporting roles on TV and film spanning several decades, was taken into custody in Los Angeles this morning and charged with seven instances of sexual assault. Local officials have expressed intent to investigate additional potential victims or witnesses related to alleged attacks stretching back more than a decade.

52-year-old Olds was apprehended in the Crestwood Hills district of Los Angeles following a July arrest warrant issued by the L.A. Superior Court, with a bail set at $3.5 million. The district attorney indicted him on seven counts of sexual assault after a 41-year-old woman alleged that he had raped her in her Los Angeles residence; this claim led to two additional women stepping forward to the police, asserting that Olds had sexually assaulted them in incidents as far back as 2013, as stated in an LAPD press release.

The accusations against Olds involve charges for sexual assault, sexual assault on an unconscious individual, acts of sodomy, attempted rape with the intention of causing harm, and inflicting bodily harm on a romantic partner or girlfriend.

Born and raised in New York, the actor who more recently graced our screens as Pat Robertson in the Academy Award-winning film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” was previously a Yale University alumnus. Before finding his stride in acting, he made appearances in various TV series like “JAG,” “CSI,” and “Six Feet Under” and a range of lesser-known movies. It wasn’t until he landed the role opposite Jessica Chastain as Pat Robertson that he truly broke through.

As a captivated admirer recounting my own experiences, I can’t help but share how Olds skillfully employed various elements of his life to win over women, creating an illusion of safety and trust that was eventually shattered by violence. Remarkably, each woman I interacted with, some of whom crossed paths with him on dating platforms, reported the same enticing strategies he used.

“Detective Brent Hopkins, overseeing the Special Assault Section at LAPD, repeated that they had repeatedly encountered the same distressing story. Mr. Olds initially came across as charming, but his true nature was revealed through brutal acts of rape. Some victims endured in silence for years before finally finding the courage to share their ordeals. Now that he’s no longer on our streets, we aim to ensure everyone who has been silenced can now find a voice.”

Furthermore, authorities found two additional individuals who claimed to have been victimized by non-severe assaults similar to those previously reported by the initial three victims. Now, investigators are actively searching for more potential victims given that the suspect’s career as an actor required frequent travel, according to the LAPD.

The authorities are appealing for help from the general public and request anyone who has been a victim or witness to a specific incident to reach out to the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) West Division, Special Assault Unit.

On Thursday, an email from The Hollywood Reporter to Olds’ representative didn’t receive an immediate response. At the time of publishing, it wasn’t clear if Olds had hired a lawyer to speak on his behalf, and no case number for Olds’ arrest had been released by the LAPD as yet.
