Approximately three years ago, designer Reese Cooper, recognized for his utilitarian runways and as the youngest finalist ever for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2019, embarked on creating an outdoor collection. Inspired by the beauty and inclusiveness of California’s outdoor lifestyle, where he now calls home (having been born in Florida), Cooper aimed to design items that harmonize with the pastimes he and his friends cherish most: appreciating nature. With backing from Pacsun, Cooper’s hard work has finally blossomed into reality: a fresh sub-label of durable outdoor clothing, Reese Cooper Outdoor Supply, under a brand-new banner.
Speaking as someone who’s continually captivated by nature, particularly residing in California, I aimed to make this collection effortlessly reachable, much like the landscapes it draws inspiration from. With my friends in mind and their diverse activities, the essence of RCOS lies in crafting items that stand up in all environments – whether you’re dashing through the city or scaling a mountain.

In their first release, this brand showcases a diverse array of styles, including sleek taped-seam jacket shapes, warm insulated clothing, and cargo pants made from materials like nylon, sherpa fleece, waffle knit, robust cotton, and compression fabrics. The designer’s distinctive Hook symbol is scattered throughout the collection, linking this new project to their award-winning brand that won them a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Additionally, graphic T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatpants introduce consumers to the brand’s ‘RCOS’ symbolism, while custom rock pullers, zippers, and speed belts reflect the collection’s earthy inspiration.
Cooper added, “These items are designed for everyone, regardless of who you are. They’re meant to be used and potentially soiled, but the best part is enjoying yourself while using them. I might not be a pro when it comes to outdoor adventures, but I sure am an enthusiast! I firmly advocate trying out new experiences, discovering new locations, and stepping outside your usual routine.”
Demonstrating his own advice, Cooper embarked on a six-day journey along the Pacific Coast with friends like photographer Stefan Kohli for the collection’s campaign shoot. The outcome, as shown in the image, reflects Cooper’s aim with his Outdoor Supply brand: equipping you to explore, regardless of your skill level.
