Aamir Khan recalls ex-wife Kiran Rao questioning 'who is stopping you?’ on him not being able to meet his ammi: '35 years of my life has gone...'

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for personal growth and work-life balance, I find Aamir Khan’s journey to be both inspiring and relatable. His 35 years in Bollywood have undoubtedly been marked by unparalleled success, but like many of us, he too has grappled with the challenges of balancing professional and personal life.

Renowned Bollywood star Aamir Khan recently opened up about the challenge of achieving a healthy work-life balance after over three decades in the film industry. During a conversation with his former wife Kiran Rao, she observed that while he was physically present, mentally he was absent. She poignantly said to him, “You frequently tell me you can’t visit your mother, who lives just two floors above you; what’s preventing you?”

Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan recently had the exclusive chance to present their film Laapataa Ladies at the Supreme Court of India, an occasion that has sparked much curiosity. After the viewing, Aamir and Kiran interacted with the audience. During this discussion, Aamir Khan talked about his struggle to maintain a balance between work and life after spending more than three decades in the entertainment industry, as reported by Indian Express. Addressing the crowd at the Supreme Court auditorium, he admitted, “Approximately 35 years of my life have been consumed by utter chaos. I was a workaholic.”

Later, he acknowledged Kiran, his companion beside him, by stating, “Kiran has gone through it. She shared with me, ‘I sense you’re here physically, yet spiritually absent.’ In a heartfelt manner, she said, ‘You frequently tell me you can’t see Ammi, she resides just two floors above you, what’s preventing you?'” He also mentioned that in the past few years, he has been making efforts to attain more harmony in his life.

Last year at a gathering with News18, Aamir Khan openly spoke about feeling remorseful for not dedicating enough time to his family and kids in the past. He confessed that approximately two and a half years ago, he came to understand how his intense dedication to his profession had unintentionally neglected his personal relationships. This revelation caused him distress and unhappiness, leading him to confess that he might have chosen a different path if not for his children’s presence in his life. He also acknowledged his feelings of self-anger and frustration over this situation.

Prior to the showing of Laapataa Ladies, Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan made a trip to the Supreme Court for a hearing. While there, Aamir Khan was greeted by Chief Justice Chandrachud who jokingly mentioned Khan’s presence, suggesting they might want to avoid causing a rush or stampede.

The movie event occurred within the auditorium of the court’s administrative complex, welcoming Supreme Court judges, their partners, and registry staff. Previously hailed at its debut during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2023, Laapataa Ladies – a film emphasizing gender equality – was met with a resounding standing ovation. This screening served as one of the celebratory events honoring the 75th anniversary of India’s Supreme Court, making for a significant juncture in both the judiciary and film industry.
