AI Creates A Live-Action He-Man Movie Trailer Set In The 1950s & It Has The Power

As a child of the 80’s, I’ve grown up with the mighty He-Man and his Masters of the Universe, and let me tell you, nothing could have prepared us for the cultural shock that this AI-created trailer offers. It’s as if they’ve transported our favorite barbarian to a strange land where people wore bell-bottoms and listened to The Beatles – a world far removed from the black-and-white TV era of the 50’s!

As someone who grew up in the 1950s and raised my own children during that era, I must say that the characters from “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” would have been quite shocking to my contemporaries. The scantily clad, overly muscular figures with their excessive exposure of skin would have caused many parents to cover their children’s eyes and possibly even faint upon sight. It was a very different time back then, and such displays of physique were not the norm.

In this new take on He-Man, the trailer presents an assortment of five distinct versions of the legendary figure, evoking a vibe reminiscent of the late ’60s or early ’70s. The costume design and alien landscapes echo either “Star Trek” or “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” suggesting that this isn’t your typical 1950s setting, but it’s not a bad thing. All these elements align with their iconic characters while taking us on a journey outside of time and space. However, no matter when He-Man is revived, the challenge remains significant given the character’s rich history and numerous origin stories. The upcoming adaptation could potentially unravel the mystery behind He-Man, finally getting the formula right.

Does Nicholas Galitzine have the power as the next He-Man?

As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that I, along with Director Travis Knight, have been granted access to the enchanting realm of Castle Grayskull, as well as all its fantastical elements that breathe life into “Masters of the Universe.” A key figure in this film is Nicholas Galitzine, who has previously showcased his talent in movies like “The Idea of You” and “Red, White & Royal Blue.” Now, he’s set to wield the Power Sword and step into the shoes of the legendary hero.

In May, Galitzine was declared as the latest guardian of Eternia, and on Instagram, he expressed, “By the Power of Greyskull, I possess the strength!” Emulating Dolph Lundgren, who was the last live-action He-Man in the 1987 “Masters of the Universe” film, Galitzine stated, “I am incredibly proud to share that I will be portraying Adam, Prince of Eternia in ‘Masters of the Universe.’ For a long time, playing someone with such courage, humor, and heart has been a dream of mine. I can hardly wait to get started!”

It’s intriguing to ponder how the character Galitzine will metamorphose into He-Man, considering he’s bulkier as a barbarian compared to his Prince Adam persona. Since “Bumblebee,” the family-friendly spin-off of the Transformers franchise, has been well-received, one might wonder if this sword and sorcery tale will maintain a similar tone. As of now, no additional casting for other Masters of the Universe characters has been announced yet, so we’ll just have to keep waiting for updates on characters like Snout Spout or Fisto.
