Raveena Tandon dismisses rumors of her airport 'catfight' with Karisma Kapoor; CLAIMS 'men used to actually have fistfights'

As a devoted fan who has grown up watching these two iconic Bollywood divas, I find Raveena Tandon’s recent interview with Filmfare both enlightening and intriguing. Her insights into her alleged rivalry with Karisma Kapoor provide a unique perspective on the dynamics of stardom during the ’90s.

For many years, the supposed feud between Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor has been a popular topic in headlines. During their career heights, they were fierce rivals, with rumors circulating that they wouldn’t even communicate during filming for their successful comedy “Andaz Apna Apna”. In an interview with Filmfare, Raveena recently discussed the notorious ‘spat’ on the set of “Aatish”.

In the course of our chat, I confessed that I maintain friendships with several of my fellow professionals such as Pooja Bhatt, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, and Shilpa Shetty. At 49 years old, I shared, “The sense of camaraderie among us remains strong, but there are a few who harbored insecurities in the past and still do, and unfortunately, those connections have faded. However, we continue to meet on social occasions. Yet, when you mention catfights, let me clarify that they were never as dramatic as the term suggests.”

In response to being asked about the well-publicized incident involving Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor at an airport during the filming of Aatish, Tandon clarified that it wasn’t actually a catfight. Instead, she explained, “I respectfully disagree. There was never a catfight. Perhaps there was a conversation, maybe even a disagreement about certain actions and reasons for those actions. But there was never a catfight.” The intention was to address the issue and bridge any gaps, not to engage in a fight.

Raveena Tandon stated that the entire incident was exaggerated and she referred to it as ‘spiced up’ or ‘mirch masala’. She explained this because, at that time, celebrities did not have social media platforms to quickly address rumors or clarify their involvement. Furthermore, she mentioned that some of her male peers engaged in physical altercations, but these incidents often went unreported in the news.

Back in the day, guys would throw down in a physical way, but us ladies never did. So, if we had disagreements, what should they be called? We’d have heart-to-hearts, trying to sort things out and make peace, like saying, “What’s up? Let’s put our differences aside.” But some just wouldn’t budge, which would escalate into a heated argument. However, it wasn’t until later that such heated arguments were labeled as ‘catfights’, even though they didn’t happen in those days.

Professionally, Tandon is delighted by the launch of Ghudchadi, now available on Jio Cinema. This romantic comedy features prominent actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan, Khushalii Kumar, and Aruna Irani.
