As someone who has invested in Binance and knows Tigran as a Binance executive, it is heart-wrenching to see him suffer so much.
Tigran Gambaryan, an American citizen and high-ranking executive at Binance, is critically ill while being held in Nigerian custody. His family is making urgent pleas for help due to his deteriorating health situation. Since late February, he has been imprisoned in Kuje Prison, Abuja, and his condition has taken a turn for the worse, with complications such as a worsening herniated disc and serious infections.
Regardless of his significant health problems, he faces a severe restriction in obtaining proper medical care and necessary surgeries, which puts his health at even greater risk.
Under Nigerian law, Gambaryan is entitled to fair access to legal counsel and healthcare, yet these fundamental rights appear to be blatantly disregarded.
In Section 45 of Nigerian Prison Regulations, it is stated that detainees have the right to consult with lawyers and receive visitors. Unfortunately, in Gambaryan’s situation, this fundamental right appears to have been violated as his legal team has reported limited access, making it challenging for them to effectively represent him and maintain close watch over his health concerns.
As a concerned crypto investor and family man, I can’t help but feel deeply affected by the ongoing detention and deteriorating health of my fellow investor, Gambaryan. His situation has undeniably taken an emotional toll on his family, particularly his wife, Yuki, and their children back in Georgia, USA. The distress this situation has caused is palpable, especially for their young ones who are struggling with the absence of their father. Seeing his five-year-old son and ten-year-old daughter dealing with such emotional hardship is heart-wrenching.
“Yuki mentioned that she discovered our son sobbing on the living room floor, deeply missing his father,” Yuki said, emphasizing the daily struggle the family is experiencing.
Given that Nigeria’s legal system is on break until mid-October, Gambaryan’s worsening health situation emphasizes the necessity for an immediate response or action.
The family urgently appeals to the Nigerian authorities, asking them to think about freeing him on humanitarian grounds, as they fear that the circumstances of his imprisonment may lead to permanent harm or disability.
The heartfelt appeal from the Gambaryan family underscores the critical importance of addressing the neglected human rights and healthcare issues surrounding Tigran Gambaryan. As events unfold, global attention is focused on Nigeria, hoping for a reaction that will either reinforce justice or reveal weaknesses in its detention facilities.
