Blake Lively Brought Back Barbiecore For The It Ends With Us Afterparty, And It's The Perfect Last Hurrah

As a longtime fan who has followed Blake Lively’s career since her Gossip Girl days, I must say that I am continually impressed by her fashion choices, particularly during film promotions. The woman knows how to make an entrance and command attention!

Following the explosion of pink styles throughout summer 2023, it seems that many celebrity fashion trends have moved on from this color. In contrast, red carpet events this summer have been graced with an array of looks such as tenniscore (thanks to Zendaya) and multi-colored corset dresses. However, Blake Lively has managed to revive the Barbiecore trend by elegantly incorporating it into her recent corset dress ensemble.

As a die-hard fan, I must say that during the promotional tour for “It Ends with Us,” Blake Lively truly embodied her character, Lily Blossom Bloom, by embracing her namesake wholeheartedly. This translates to an abundance of floral motifs in her outfits – from playfully borrowing Ryan Reynolds’ floral shirt to gracing us with a series of pastel, flowery, and feathery ensembles that perfectly matched the tour’s aesthetic. In fact, if you’ve ever dreamt of mastering creative floral attire, this tour has been a fantastic learning experience for all of us!

Instead of opting for her usual style at the afterparty for the premiere of “It Ends with Us,” the actress chose a new path. She donned a pink satin corset dress, pink shoes, and earrings to match, all in pink. This color has always suited her well, and I appreciate that this choice subtly references the popular film that drew women to cinemas last summer while also hinting at how “It Ends With Us” is poised to do the same for the 2024 movie lineup. The movie raked in $50 million on its opening weekend, coming close to surpassing the earnings of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” in their third weekend.

That’s certainly not a number to scoff at.

As someone who has been involved in film production for many years, I must admit that it’s truly remarkable to see how a movie like “It Ends with Us” was made on a mid-level budget of approximately $25 million. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that the costume design and fashion choices for Lily Bloom’s character were given significant attention, despite the financial limitations.

Blake introduced her exquisite Lorraine Schwartz jewelry pieces. Unfortunately, my budget doesn’t stretch that far. Her style and collection are truly remarkable.

It’s undeniable that Lively’s style in the film and during interviews was carefully planned. If Barbiecore is indeed nearing its end with Margot Robbie’s lifelong affection for pink, I strongly believe this was the perfect film and actress to give it a fitting farewell.

It Ends with Us is out in theaters right now.
