Tron: Ares Gave Us A Ton Of Cool Updates, But This One Has Me Most Excited

As a die-hard fan of the Tron franchise since its inception, I must say that the latest developments surrounding Tron: Ares have me absolutely thrilled! With the addition of powerhouse talents like Jared Leto and the hauntingly beautiful music of Nine Inch Nails, this film is shaping up to be an electrifying visual and auditory spectacle.

I can’t contain my ongoing excitement for the slate of 2025 movies on the horizon! Some of the films I’m really looking forward to include sequels, such as “Paddington’s Peruvian Adventure” and “Downton Abbey 3,” but Disney’s long-awaited “Tron: Ares” is what I’m most thrilled about.

When I thought I was already incredibly excited about the future of the Tron timeline, the D23 expo over the weekend offered us numerous exciting updates. Among these, one particular piece of news has me practically dancing with joy, and the entire update has my imagination soaring with a cacophony of possibilities that I can’t wait to explore.

Tron: Ares Just Landed A Perfect Composing Team

During the recent D23 Expo panels over the weekend, TopMob was fortunate enough to have both attendees and our devoted Disney enthusiast, Dirk Libbey, present. Thanks to a close connection, I managed to secure insider information about the Tron: Ares reveal that took place at the Honda Center on Friday evening.

As a long-time fan of both Joachim Rønning’s filmography and Nine Inch Nails’ music, I am absolutely thrilled by this latest development in the Tron legacy. Having grown up with the original Tron movies and being a die-hard NIN fan since their early days, it’s hard to imagine a better combination for me personally. The fact that this announcement was made in such an exciting and mysterious manner only adds to my anticipation for what’s to come. I can hardly wait to see how Trent Reznor’s unique sound and style will bring the futuristic world of Tron to life like never before!

I’ve managed to locate a suitable diversion from my prolonged focus on the mysterious Tron: Ares’ film set photos that marked the conclusion of production a few months back. The visuals are undeniably eerie, complemented by haunting sounds reminiscent of Trent Reznor’s iconic screams, serving as a chilling climax.

In the trailer for Ares, the music might not originate from its official score, according to some online fans. They believe the screams resemble an old sample from a certain group’s collection. However, it’s possible that these sounds are indeed part of the actual score, given we’re still in the early stages of reviving the world of Tron.

In addition, both Nine Inch Nails and Jeff Bridges’ official communications featured the quote “You’ll get what you deserve,” which is a line borrowed from the iconic NIN song “Head Like A Hole.” It’s intriguing that this particular track was chosen for reference, given that the public exposure of Tron: Ares expanded significantly at the D23 Expo. This event also unveiled additional details that hinted at potential future developments.

Tron: Ares Now Has Some Intriguing Character Details On The Grid

Participants from the upcoming Disney blockbuster film slated for 2025, including cast members of “Tron: Ares,” such as Jeff Bridges who is a renowned figure within the franchise, were present and shared details about their roles. As anticipated following Bridges’ sudden announcement regarding “Tron 3” earlier this year, his character in the upcoming film will reportedly only play a minor part. To provide more information about their characters, co-stars Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jared Leto shared additional insights.

Due to the recent D23 extravaganza, we’ve gained additional insights to consider when deciphering the plot of Tron 3. Notably, Lee and Peters hinted at a possible rivalry between their characters. This potential conflict is intriguing, as suggested by the actors themselves. Here’s why it might be significant:

As a gamer, I embody the character of Julian Dillinger, a name that might ring a bell if you’re familiar with Tron lore. Let me tell you, in The Grid, the Dillingers aren’t typically associated with good fortune.

Greta Lee portrays the character Lee Kim, who is exceptionally skilled in programming. Her most remarkable achievement lays the groundwork for the entry of the character Ares into our realm.

It feels like to me “Tron: Ares” is shaping up to be the most violent reinterpretation of “The Little Mermaid” ever put on screen, doesn’t it? Given that Jared Leto has a knack for singing, perhaps a new Nine Inch Nails track, similar to “Head Like A Hole,” could serve as his signature song in Disney’s history. I must clarify, though, that the enigmatic title character in this film still remains shrouded in mystery, even with the first glimpse of him in the “Tron: Ares” preview showing us his costumed appearance.

Regarding the contributions that Mr. Leto made, it turned out that he dropped the biggest shocker, an Academy Award winner’s revelation that left me quite astonished. This fascinating piece of information was generously shared by a refreshingly open Jared Leto during his talk, as he disclosed:

Fortunately, I didn’t manage to put my signature on that Non-Disclosure Agreement. Now, it’s fair game! As for me, I embody Ares, the supreme controller of the Dillinger Grid. … I’m a being who seeks a means to make the real world mine, forever.

Based on the man exiting accompanied by a radiant red motorcycle reminiscent of those we’ve seen in the mysterious Tron: Ares photo leaks, I can clearly understand the potential danger. This bike appears to be one of the glowing red items from the blurred images, which raises an intriguing question: could artifacts from The Grid now function within our reality as portrayed in those footage snippets?

D23 Debuted The First Footage From Tron: Ares And It’s Jaw Dropping

In other words, we haven’t seen much about how the fictional world of The Grid could blend into our reality, although the conclusion of Tron: Legacy seemed to set up this possibility. However, the sequel planned, Tron: Ascension, was announced but ultimately never developed or released.

Let me express my gratitude once more to our brave TopMob ground team, as they provided crucial insights about the events depicted in the Tron: Ares footage, which is a topic currently under much discussion. As anticipated, an unidentified piece of music fittingly reminiscent of Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross’s style seamlessly connected the visually captivating components that were showcased!

In some manner, Light Cycles seem to be integrated into our reality. In a sneak peek for Tron 3, a police car is split in two due to Jared Leto’s character Ares. Additionally, Greta Lee narrowly avoids being struck by twin streams of menacing red light, potentially causing her harm instantaneously, as fast as one could utter “game over.” Regrettably, this footage has not been publicly released by Walt Disney Pictures.

Moreover, the return of Kevin Flynn in the upcoming storyline of Tron raises another question: did Sam and Quorra play a role in creating the version of the old man we now see? There’s certainly much to consider as we delve into this tale, but with all the details given above, it seems there will be plenty to anticipate in Tron: Ares.

If the recruitment of Nine Inch Nails serves as an example, their addition to the workplace music would be a harmonious fit and could potentially signal Ares’ future plans in our world. This prospect, especially with a formidable character like Ares aiming for conquest on either side of the screen, undeniably stirs excitement. Indeed, such a quest seems tailor-made for Trent Reznor’s powerful vocals.

If you share my enthusiasm for revisiting the entire Tron series to spot potential hints about the final showdown, it’s time to activate your Disney+ membership and be careful not to get ‘shut down’. Excitingly, Tron: Ares is set to premiere in cinemas on October 10, 2025, accompanied by a Nine Inch Nails soundtrack. Until our next encounter, goodbye for now, End of Line.
