On the work side, Farhan Akhtar has several upcoming projects such as Don 3 and Jee Le Zara along with Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra. Ever since the announcement of Don 3, fans have been excitedly waiting for its release. The third film in Farhan’s Don series will star Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani as the main characters. Previously, Farhan directed Shah Rukh Khan in both Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011).
In a recent chat on a podcast with YouTube personality Raj Shamani, Akhtar discussed his choice to have Ranveer Singh play the lead in Don 3 and why he didn’t contemplate carrying on the series with Shah Rukh Khan. Farhan clarified that the script for Don 3 required an up-and-coming actor like Ranveer, complimenting him as charismatic, playful, and full of life.
Farhan pointed out that so far, Ranveer hasn’t taken on a character similar to the one he’ll play in the next Don adaptation, implying there might be more to explore with regards to his acting abilities in this genre.
In his explanation, the filmmaker highlighted how Ranveer’s movie characters are typically boisterous, except for Lootera. He further mentioned that many of these roles are designed to fit Ranveer’s outgoing persona, making them more about external expressions rather than internal depth.
