As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for TV shows that offer engaging narratives and captivating characters, I find myself saddened by the news of Paramount Global’s decision to close its iconic studio. This studio has been the birthplace of many tales that have kept me glued to my screen for hours on end, from the whimsical adventures of Time Bandits to the gripping drama of Cross.
Paramount Global is set to shut down its self-titled television production studio. This decision was made public following a series of job cuts announced by the company last week, which affected approximately 15% of their workforce or around 800 positions within the organization.
The business intends to save approximately half a billion US dollars in expenses before it combines with Skydance, as announced by Nicole Clemens, president of Paramount TV, and CEO George Cheeks to their employees on Tuesday morning.
“Clemens, who is departing from Paramount, shared in a note to our team that we’ve been going through a tough and transformative phase as an industry. Regrettably, this hardship has affected us too. However, over the last ten years, we’ve managed to overcome seemingly impossible challenges thanks to our resilience, perseverance, and unwavering dedication.”
“We’ve faced these hurdles with remarkable tenacity, ingenuity, and zest for our work, and I couldn’t be more proud of our team. Moreover, we’ve been fortunate to partner with some of the brightest creative minds in our field, contributing to the narration of captivating tales that have reached global audiences, bringing joy and influencing culture.”
All TV series currently under Paramount’s TV brand are set to transition to CBS Studios. This includes classics like “Time Bandits” and the more recent “Cross.”
