As a longtime admirer of Shepard Fairey‘s powerful and impactful art, I find myself deeply moved by his latest creation, “FORWARD.” His work has always been a beacon of hope and change, from the iconic “HOPE” poster that symbolized Obama’s campaign to the poignant “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” piece following the Paris attacks.
Throughout his more than three decades of work, Shepard Fairey’s political activism has been a significant foundation. His extensive collection of posters and towering murals includes the renowned “HOPE” artwork from 2008, which served as a symbol during Barack Obama’s U.S. presidential campaign, and another piece titled “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” that he created in response to the terrorist attacks in France in 2016.
As the presidential election heats up, Fairey returns to the campaign scene with a fresh poster titled “FORWARD” (2024). On Instagram, Fairey expressed, “We have a genuine chance to progress.” If we take action, we can advance our aspirations for a thriving environment, corporate responsibility, equality over discrimination (race, sex, xenophobia, and homophobia), equal access to opportunities, healthcare, fair immigration policies, and more.
Shepard Fairey, the creator of OBEY, emphasized that he neither received payment for this project nor gains financially from supporting Harris’ campaign. Instead, he crafted it with a vision of a brighter future. Let’s unite to achieve that future! The U.S. Presidential Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
