Not Only Did I Really Like The Jackpot!, The End Credits Sequence Is One of The Funniest Things I've Seen All Year

As a cinephile who’s seen his fair share of movies and laughed through countless end credit sequences, I can confidently say that the Jackpot! end credits sequence has left me in stitches like no other recently. This eight-minute rollercoaster ride is an absolute riot, a testament to Paul Feig’s impeccable sense of humor, and a perfect ending to an already hilarious movie.

⚠️ Warning: This article may reveal small plot points from the recently released action-comedy “Jackpot!” starring John Cena and Awkwafina. If you haven’t seen it yet, be mindful as you read on.

On occasion, end credit sequences serve to resolve lingering questions, and at other times they hint at upcoming events in a major film series. However, the end credits sequence for Jackpot! does more than just that; it not only ties up loose ends but also delivers some of the most hilarious moments from any movie set to be released in 2024.

Paul Feig’s Amazon-produced film, titled “Nobody Ever Really Wins,” features Awkwafina as a lucky lottery winner who joins forces with John Cena’s bodyguard to dodge relentless Californians seeking to eliminate her and claim the staggering $3.6 billion jackpot. The movie is consistently funny, but the extra eight minutes following the end of the credits take comedy to an entirely new dimension.

What Happens In The Jackpot End Credits Sequence

The final credits sequence for “Jackpot!” can be divided into three parts, each one being laugh-out-loud funny individually.

As a fan, I can’t help but appreciate the amusing post-credits scene where Awkwafina’s character Katie Kim and John Cena’s Noel find themselves lounging on a luxurious yacht amidst the ocean’s expanse. In this moment, they reflect on how their newfound wealth has altered them, transforming them into unsavory “dolphin-eaters” or, as one might put it, “shitheads.” This brief scene is a delightful jab at their interactions throughout the film, but it’s merely a slice of the larger pie that makes this movie so entertaining.

Towards the conclusion of an eight-minute segment (with no lull moments even during the credits), Murray Hill’s Johnny Grand character, who serves as the emblematic figure for the lottery, declares that instead of ending, the lottery is expanding. Meanwhile, confetti and coins are scattered, while a flamethrower and other fresh tools are introduced.

Sandwiched among those two sidesplitting scenes are a string of bloopers, jokes, and additional takes that evoke memories of classic Jackie Chan movie end credits. These brief instances are consistently amusing and remain fresh even after numerous viewings.

Why It’s Hilarious

While we were enjoying the ending credits of the show “Jackpot!“, we found ourselves in fits of laughter. The kind of laughter that makes you fear for your coffee, as it might spill all over the living room due to its intensity. It’s a non-stop barrage of humor; you barely have time to catch your breath or recover from one joke before another one comes along.

Regarding Johnny Grand’s scene, Murray Hill truly shines, much as he did throughout the film. His eccentric costume – a blue and yellow plaid suit, an orange ruffled shirt, a fake mustache, glasses, and all – is nothing short of outrageous and amusing. Add to that his outlandish appearance, and you’ve got a recipe for laughter. But it’s the rules that take the absurdity to a whole new level! I had to stop the movie just to absorb some of the absurdities, like “Children under 10 can now legally buy tickets,” “Animals may now be used in jackpot conversions,” and “Crying is now permitted in the grand lottery.”

Additionally, remember those flubs I brought up before? Well, some alternate lines and fresh gags by Awkwafina and John Cena actually surpassed the scenes that made it to the film’s final version, particularly when John Cena is self-deprecatingly joking about himself. Much like the rest of the movie, their chemistry in these extra takes is electrifying and leaves you craving for more – a sign of quality, not weakness.

To sum up, the entertaining end credits sequence in Paul Feig’s latest comedy significantly enhances the film by adding even more laugh-out-loud moments and some genuinely outrageous ones. I’m looking forward to rewatching the movie and its terrific end credit scenes. Plus, it’s conveniently streamable for anyone with an Amazon Prime subscription.
