As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for gripping narratives and a soft spot for true stories, I am genuinely thrilled about Netflix’s upcoming limited series, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Having lived through the tense days of that historic event, I can hardly wait to relive those moments on screen, albeit with the added benefit of hindsight and a more nuanced understanding of geo-politics.

Take a look at the trailer here:
As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that in the captivating trailer, I find myself mesmerized by Vijay Varma’s portrayal of Captain Sharan Dev, a daring pilot aboard IC 814. The esteemed Pankaj Kapur gracefully embodies Minister (MEA) Vijaybhan Singh, adding depth to the narrative. To my delight, the legendary Naseeruddin Shah steps into the shoes of Vinay Kaul, a powerful Cabinet Secretary and leader of CMG, enriching this series even further.
Dia Mirza amplifies the excitement with her portrayal of journalist Shalini Chandra. Patralekhaa is cast as Indrani, a flight attendant, while Pooja Gor plays the role of Vijay Varma’s wife, who anxiously awaits her husband’s return as the plane’s passengers are stuck in the air. Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, and Manoj Pahwa will bring intensity to the upcoming hijack story as they take on the roles of R&AW officer Ranjan Mishra, MEA secretary, and IB official respectively.
Showcasing intense conversations and boasting a talented group of actors, the trailer effectively leaves an impression by diving deep into the complexities of international relations, or global politics.
IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is a groundbreaking story about the ordeal of the never-ending seven days of December 1999 and the struggle of 188 lives hijacked 30,000 feet in the air.
