As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of galaxies far, far away, the announcement of Star Wars Outlaws sent my heart racing with excitement! The prospect of exploring these iconic planets, each brimming with its own unique lore and charm, is a dream come true for any fan.
The idea of a game like Star Wars Outlaws, given that Star Wars offers numerous planets to explore and Ubisoft is known for creating vast, interconnected open worlds, feels like an ideal combination.
Just as anticipated, the game will transport players to both known and unfamiliar corners of the Star Wars galaxy. A fresh trailer has been released to showcase some significant locations featured within the game. Here it is from IGN.
Without a doubt, the teaser for the show Outlaws might seem brief, but here are some interesting facts about the planets it will feature:
Cantonica (Canto Bight)
In “The Last Jedi,” fans were first introduced to the city of Canto Bight; however, in the upcoming game “Outlaws“, players will be taken to the very planet that is the birthplace of the main character Kay Vess – Cantonica.
In contrast to the gritty underworld ruled by figures like Jabba the Hutt, which Star Wars fans were familiar with, Canto Bight offered a glimpse into the lives of the affluent, those who distanced themselves from the ongoing struggle between the Rebellion and the Empire in the Star Wars universe.
Without a doubt, the rich often frequent Canto Bight, but that doesn’t mean the city lacks its share of impoverished residents, who unfortunately are quite prevalent. It’s plausible that Kay Vess, aspiring to carve out a reputation in the criminal underworld as depicted in Outlaws, might be one of the less fortunate natives striving to climb the ladder of the underworld’s hierarchy.
Akiva
Akiva is a fresh location yet to appear in films or TV series, but it was referenced in the “Aftermath” books published during the Sequel Trilogy era. Essentially, it’s a lush jungle planet teeming with various types of flora and fauna.
It’s particularly interesting to note that the planet is home to a droid manufacturing facility, leading some to believe that this is where Kay may discover her robotic companion, ND-5.
The Moon of Toshara
Have an opinion on this article? We’d love to hear it!
In the game, there’s a fresh setting called Toshara, which seems to be influenced by the vast deserts of the outback. It’s dotted with open plains and teeming with wildlife. The stunning vistas and magical visuals hint that players will likely spend extended periods exploring Toshara on their speeders, immersed in the captivating surroundings.
Just as with any other planet, Toshara too boasts its fair share of questionable districts. For Kay to successfully carry out her underhanded transactions, she’ll need to maneuver these areas skillfully.
Kijimi
In the expansive Star Wars universe, Kijimi is a recently introduced location, appearing as a snow-covered fortress for the first time in “The Rise of Skywalker.” Despite not featuring in the film’s conclusion, fans can look forward to Kay delving deeply into this planet in the upcoming series, “Outlaws.”
In this game, Kijimi serves as the residence for the Ashiga Clan, who are rumored to be led by Melitto, an intriguing race of blind insect-humans. Let’s hope that fans will get a surprise appearance from the planet’s most iconic character—the mechanical whiz, Babu Frik.
Tatooine
Certainly, a Star Wars game wouldn’t feel like the real deal without the notorious den of rogues and ne’er-do-wells that it’s famous for.
Tatooine, the stronghold of the Hutt Cartel, presents an ideal environment for smugglers to prosper. Be it bounty hunting or moving illicit goods, you’re likely to find someone with a job opportunity here. Fingers crossed that Kay can handle the challenge.
It’s possible that additional planets may appear in the game at a later time, but for the moment, it appears that only the planets already announced are the ones where players can explore freely, with numerous side quests and job opportunities available.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on Aug. 30 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
