Salman Khan’s mom never influenced them against dad Salim Khan after he married Helen, claims Arbaaz Khan: ‘She had her troubles but...’

As an ardent fan of the illustrious Salim-Javed duo and their enchanting tales, I found myself utterly captivated by the third episode of Angry Young Men on Prime Video. The episode delved into the intricate dynamics of the Khan family, particularly focusing on the unique bond shared between Salim Khan, his wives, and his children.

The docuseries featuring legendary Bollywood writer duo Salim-Javed has begun streaming on Prime Video, with the third episode of Angry Young Men shedding light on the Khan family’s personal experiences. In this installment, the Khan family discusses how Salim Khan shared information about his second wife Helen with them, and emphasized that Salma Khan (his first wife) never influenced her children to have negative thoughts towards the screenwriter.

Arbaaz Khan shared that his mom, Salma Khan, always refrained from speaking negatively about either Helen or Salim. In simpler terms, he stated that his mother never encouraged them to harbor negative thoughts or make negative comments about their father. Despite her own struggles, she never influenced them to think of their father in a negative light or spread any negative information about him.

Arbaaz mentioned that all the children still refer to Helen as “aunt” because that’s what they initially called her when she joined their family. Even though we consider her like a mother, we continue to address her as “Helen Aunt.” She is an integral part of our lives, he explained further, adding that it’s Salma Khan who makes sure Helen is involved in everything.

For those unfamiliar, Salim Khan wed Sushika Charak (now Salma Khan) in 1964 and they share four children: three sons – Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail, as well as one daughter, Alvira. Later, in 1981, he married Helen Ann Richardson and the pair adopted a daughter named Arpita. During the same documentary series, Salim Khan reminisced about the moment when he first shared the news of his marriage to Helen with his family.

Salim Khan shared that he gathered his children together to talk about something important. He explained, “You may not comprehend it now, but you will when you’re older. I have feelings for Aunt Helen, and though you might love your mother more deeply, I ask for the same level of respect for her.”

Salim and Helen initially encountered each other while filming Kabli Khan, with him portraying a villain and her as the heroine. Despite being on set together, they didn’t engage in any conversations then. Their paths crossed again during the production of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don, and from that moment, they began exchanging words. Since then, their connection continued to grow without any interruption.
