As a long-time musical theatre enthusiast with a soft spot for stories that delve into the complexities of friendship and the nuances of character, I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of “Wicked.” With my memories filled with countless performances of Rent and Les Misérables, I can confidently say that this film promises to bring a fresh perspective to an already beloved tale.

Although Director Jon M. Chu’s “Wicked” won’t hit the screens until late November, here’s some enchanting fresh video that has us buzzing with excitement for this highly awaited movie of the year!

In the video featurette, Chu expresses that for him, “Wicked” fundamentally revolves around friendship. The two-part film is a lively exploration of two contrasting young women who initially dislike each other due to being forced roommates. It delves into the challenges of change, the complexity of individuals, and ultimately, their blossoming friendship.

The two young ladies in question are Elphaba, who has green skin and is considered an outcast, played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda, a well-known figure, portrayed by Ariana Grande. These women will eventually become renowned witches with ties to both good and evil, but before they reached such heights, they were initially hesitant friends during their time at the esteemed Shiz University. Their friendship appears unshakable… until Elphaba encounters The Not-so-Wonderful Wizard of Oz, played by Jeff Goldblum.

In Chu’s words, the friendship portrayed in the movie will infuse it with a touch of genuine human emotion, which resonates deeply and intimately with both parties involved.
