Oprah Winfrey Surprises DNC With Night Three Speech: “Decency and Respect Are on the Ballot”

As a gamer with a profound appreciation for history and a deep-rooted love for the American spirit, I find Oprah Winfrey‘s speech at the Democratic National Convention to be nothing short of inspiring. Having grown up in various states across this vast nation, I can attest to the diverse tapestry that makes America great – from the towering redwood forests to the gulf stream waters.

At the third night of the Democratic National Convention, I was part of an electrified audience as Oprah Winfrey stepped onto the stage, ready to deliver a passionate speech backing Kamala Harris. What a moment!

It wasn’t until an hour prior that rumors arose about Oprah attending, and just before she stepped onto the stage, DNC commentators hinted at her as a future speaker.

“Oprah Winfrey has resided in Mississippi, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Maryland, Indiana, Florida, Hawaii, Colorado, California, and my beloved Chicago,” she stated. “I’ve journeyed through this nation, from the towering redwood forests – such a breathtaking sight! – to the tranquil gulf stream waters. I’ve encountered racism, sexism, economic disparity, and division. Unfortunately, I’ve also experienced these prejudices myself at times. However, more frequently than not, what I’ve observed and felt are fellow humans, regardless of political leanings, who may disagree but will lend a helping hand in an instant if you’re in need. These individuals inspire me to proudly declare that I am an American.”

Winfrey’s speech was rich with historical context; she spoke about Tessie Prevost Williams, a pioneer in school desegregation who passed away recently. The influential figure compared Williams to Ruby Bridges and Harris, all of whom were part of some of the first integrated classes – Williams in school desegregation efforts, Bridges in the South, and Harris in Berkeley, California.

“Soon, in no time at all, we’ll be educating our children – both boys and girls – about the extraordinary journey of a person who is the offspring of an Indian mother and a Jamaican father, two passionate and dynamic immigrants, who eventually ascended to the position of the 47th President of the United States,” Winfrey expressed.

Oprah Winfrey emphasized the significance of casting votes, describing it as “the finest aspect of our country.” She pointed out that she identifies as an Independent voter, yet is proud to vote repeatedly because, in her words, “I’m American, and that’s what Americans consistently do.”

In simpler terms, “Oprah is appealing to those who aren’t affiliated with any particular party or those who are still deciding – she believes this is important… what truly matters most are values and personality. Above all else, decency and respect will be up for grabs in the elections of 2024.”

She went on, “We’re citizens of the United States. We should prioritize allegiance to our constitution above any one person. Moreover, we should opt for hopefulness instead of pessimism, as that embodies the essence of our nation.”

Winfrey additionally addressed the “happiness” motif that numerous individuals have highlighted throughout the convention. On certain occasions, she seemed to be singing while the audience roared with applause.

“She suggested we opt for honesty, dignity, and happiness instead. She believed these values truly represent the finest aspects of our nation.”
