In a recent conversation, this actor responded to the director by naming Mira Nair and Ang Lee as examples of respected filmmakers. He confessed that he hadn’t fully read the script for the film and made it clear that his critique was not aimed at Vanga.
During an interview with India Today NE, Adil Hussain responded to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s assertion that the character he played in Kabir Singh gave him greater recognition than all his roles prior to it.
In response to this, the actor asked, “I can’t believe he actually counted my films. Honestly, I don’t know what to say to that. If Ang Lee is less famous than him or Mira Nair is less famous, then I have nothing to say. Ang Lee was an Oscar winner before Life of Pi.”
He further continued his answer by stating, “So, god bless Sandeep Reddy Vanga for taking the time to count the films I’ve done. I understand he’s upset about what I said, but I’ve never blamed him”.
The seasoned performer acknowledged his error in skipping the entire script. He stressed that no matter how many justifications he presents for this action, it wouldn’t change anything. “I take full responsibility, and upon watching the movie, I came to understand that I had made a substantial oversight,” was his statement.
For those not familiar, Hussain has collaborated with directors Lee on “Life of Pi” and Nair on “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.”
