Rebirth Island faces the chopping block amid Area 99's Warzone arrival

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into Call of Duty: Warzone, this news about Rebirth Island potentially being removed from my favorite battle royale game has left me feeling like I’ve just been kicked out of my own virtual home. The thrill of battling it out on the confined yet strategically rich map is unparalleled, and the thought of saying goodbye to it is as painful as parting with a trusted companion.

Although widely appreciated by players, there’s a possibility that the Rebirth Island map might get removed when Black Ops 6 launches towards the end of this year.

As a veteran player of Battle Royale games, I’ve seen many maps come and go. The recent addition of Alcatraz to Warzone was a breath of fresh air for me, as it offered a unique and challenging experience compared to the traditional battle royale format. However, rumors swirling around about its potential removal have left me feeling a little let down. I’ve grown attached to this map over the past six months, and I fear that if it is taken out of the game, I may lose interest in Warzone altogether. I hope that these leaks are just speculation, as I would hate to see such an entertaining and well-designed map go to waste. After all, I’ve invested countless hours mastering its layout and perfecting my strategies. Fingers crossed that we get to enjoy Alcatraz for a little while longer!

After the unveiling of Area 99, whistleblowers are suggesting that the rotation of maps for Resurgence may exclude Rebirth Island.

Leakers claim Rebirth Island will be removed from Warzone

Known leaker “HeyImAlaix” recently posted on Twitter, hinting at the potential removal of Rebirth Island from Warzone as soon as November, with Area 99 set to take its place.

The leaker claims Fortune’s Keep will stay alongside Vondel and the Urzikstan cut-ups.

It’s uncertain whether this is a long-term relocation or simply a temporary stay so that Area 99 can enjoy the spotlight. Considering the high demand for Rebirth, it wouldn’t be surprising if Treyarch wants its first Warzone map to receive undivided attention.

As a fan, I’ve been hearing rumors that with Battlefield 6 Season 1, there might be a switch from Rebirth to a new map called Area99. However, it looks like Fortunes Keep is set to stick around!

Earlier, less popular maps on Warzone have been removed from the game rotation, and this year, the least favorite map among players was Ashika Island, which has now been moved to storage.

Instead of regularly changing their map selection, other battle royale and tactical FPS games cycle their maps. For instance, VALORANT occasionally removes certain maps for minor updates, then reintroduces them after three months, while Apex Legends employs a unique rotation method that provides maps with periodic breaks to maintain freshness.

For fans of Rebirth Island, there might be a hint of concern or alternatively, an exciting possibility – given a fresh perspective – as the initial image from Area 99 seems remarkably similar to Rebirth Island. A central cornucopia is surrounded by less densely populated Points of Interest, arranged around the periphery of what appears to be another island.

If the rumors are accurate, Rebirth Island might be permanently removed from the game, or it could take a short break while Treyarch introduces their latest map – it’s tough to imagine a better selection of Resurgence maps than Area 99, Rebirth Island, and Vondel.

Even still, it shouldn’t bee too much longer before Verdansk returns anyway.
