Paul Bettany’s Vision TV Show Is Bringing Back James Spader’s Ultron, And I Wonder How This Is Going To Be Pulled Off

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this Ultron comeback has me both exhilarated and puzzled. I mean, remember when we thought Thanos was the final boss? Turns out, there’s always another level to conquer!

2015 saw Earth’s strongest superheroes reunite on the silver screen for “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” In the beginning, they battled one of the remaining HYDRA cells, but soon shifted their attention to confronting the manipulative Ultron, portrayed by James Spader. As expected, the robotic threat was ultimately vanquished by the end of the 11th Marvel movie. However, it’s been announced that Ultron will make a comeback in an upcoming Marvel TV series centered around Paul Bettany’s Vision. This development has fans intrigued, yet leaves us questioning how this can be achieved given the events in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

According to THR’s latest report, it has been confirmed that Hugh Laurie (Spader) will reprise his voice role for Ultron in the upcoming series known colloquially as “Vision Quest,” although its formal title remains unconfirmed. Spader is the first cast member announced to work alongside Paul Bettany on this production, which aims to start filming in England early next year, 2025. Terry Matalas from “Star Trek: Picard” was appointed as showrunner for this television venture back in May.

In case you remember, Ultron, a formidable adversary, made its debut in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” It came to life when the security system Tony Stark and Bruce Banner were crafting got sentient after it was contaminated by Loki’s scepter, which harbored the Mind Stone. Once activated, Ultron believed that the best way to save the world was by exterminating mankind. In pursuit of this goal, it created a new robotic form for itself, with the Mind Stone placed on its forehead. However, the Avengers intercepted and seized this body before Ultron could transfer his consciousness into it. With Iron Man’s AI J.A.R.V.I.S. integrated and Thor’s lightning giving life to the body, this creation became Vision—a being capable of lifting Mjolnir and joining forces with the superheroes to confront Ultron, whom it referred to as its “father.”
