Every Movie Coming to Paramount+ in September 2024

As a cinephile who’s spent countless nights huddled under blankets, engrossed in the silver screen, I must say the upcoming lineup is nothing short of intriguing! From chilling thrillers like “Premonition” and “The Preppie Connection,” to biopics such as “Born to Be Blue,” it seems there’s a film for every mood.

The situation seems challenging for Paramount+ at the moment, as they’re facing a critical juncture. The company has been implementing layoffs and experimenting with a recent price hike. Starting August 20, 2024, the ad-supported version of Paramount+ Essential will rise to $8 per month (from its previous $6), while the ad-free version with Showtime will increase to $13 per month (previously $12). On a positive note, their content offerings remain strong, with September bringing three significant movies for streaming debut and an influx of excellent films added to their library.

1. For enthusiasts of chilling tales, the approaching “APARTMENT 7A” promises a unique spin on horror with a stylish ’60s ambiance. In September, “We Will Dance Again” might spark controversy as it’s expected to be the most debated documentary. Lastly, science fiction aficionados are in luck with the release of the mind-bending film “Parallel” on streaming platforms. To prepare you for the autumn and October, Paramount+ is also adding some terrifying additions to their lineup, such as sequels from “Mimic,” “Halloween,” “The Crow,” and “Dusk Till Dawn” franchises.

In an effort to distract herself from the sorrow of losing her child, Vanessa (Danielle Deadwyler) and her husband Alex (Aldis Hodge), along with his brother Martel (Edwin Hodge), embark on a getaway to a secluded lake house. But when they stumble upon a puzzling gateway in the woods that facilitates travel between alternate dimensions, Vanessa’s despair deepens as she encounters a reality where her son is not deceased.

Delving into themes of sorrow and familial ties, the film Parallel has been lauded for its compelling examination of intricate concepts presented with a creative sci-fi spin. Danielle Deadwyler’s portrayal in the movie has earned rave reviews for her moving depiction of a mother grappling with the loss of a child. Sci-fi enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of Parallel on Paramount+, particularly its ambiguous ending that promises to spark conversation well beyond the closing credits. Stream Parallel starting September 1.

Under the guidance of Natalie Erika James (who directed Relic) and featuring Julia Garner, Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, and Kevin McNally, the film APARTMENT 7A delves into a chilling prequel to Roman Polanski’s renowned work, Rosemary’s Baby. The narrative unfolds the eerie happenings within the Bramford building prior to Rosemary’s harrowing experiences. In this tale, a promising young dancer takes a room from an elderly couple, setting off a chain of terrifying occurrences.

Natalie Erika James’s movie, titled “Relic“, is an underappreciated horror masterpiece, delving into intricate themes of family and dementia through the supernatural. Horror enthusiasts should make a point to catch this film when it releases on September 27. The setting in the 1960s, with its emphasis on the entertainment world and fashion, juxtaposed against the chilling atmosphere of the infamous Bramford building, promises a visually captivating experience for viewers. “APARTMENT 7A” seems to be an ideal choice for those eagerly anticipating the upcoming spooky season. Starting September 27, you can stream “Apartment 7A” on Paramount+.

Yariv Moser’s Documentary “We Will Dance Again” delves into the aftermath of the Hamas attack on the Nova Music Festival in Israel that took place on October 7. The film combines footage from that day, interviews with survivors, and an investigation into the effects it had on the local community. It made its premiere on August 23, 2024, at the Doc Festival held by the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem, and later screened at the DocEdge Festival in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The film “We Will Dance Again” has garnered early acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of the Israel-Palestine conflict, often a contentious topic. Critics describe it as deeply emotional yet historically significant. Previews have already been successful, with viewers asking for additional screenings during its brief release. Now, as a Paramount+ original movie, audiences can experience an exclusive perspective on the events of October 7. “We Will Dance Again” is set to stream in late September.
