Game of Thrones Alum Emilia Clarke to Star in Cold War Conspiracy Thriller PONIES at Peacock

As a seasoned gamer and history enthusiast who has spent countless hours strategizing Cold War scenarios in games like Red Alert and Call of Duty: Black Ops, I’m thrilled to hear about Emilia Clarke’s new role in Peacock’s original series, PONIES. The blend of her enchanting screen presence with the tense atmosphere of the 1970s Cold War is a captivating mix that promises an engaging watch.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Peacock is taking us way back to 1977 with an entirely fresh TV series called “PONIES.” This exciting new venture will feature the talented Emilia Clarke, who previously charmed us all on “Game of Thrones.” Can’t wait to tune in!

The upcoming series, now confirmed with an instant greenlight by NBCUniversal’s streaming service, actually delves into the Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union during the last century, rather than focusing on baby horses as one might initially assume.

Who does Emilia Clarke play in Peacock’s Cold War espionage thriller, PONIES?

As a gamer, I’m all geared up to step into one of the leading roles for an exhilarating Cold War thriller that revolves around two unsuspecting characters, much like myself hidden behind the screens, working as secretaries at the American Embassy in Moscow back in 1977. However, things take a dramatic turn when our husbands meet untimely ends within the USSR. With no choice but to adapt, my character Bea, and yet another unnamed character Twila, are thrust into the world of espionage as CIA agents. Our mission? Unravel a labyrinthine Cold War conspiracy that not only led to our husbands’ demise but also left us widows in the first place. The official synopsis paints a chilling picture of what lies ahead.

Based on their character profiles, Bea is a young woman who was born to Soviet immigrants and has received extensive education. Twila, in contrast, is a tough and courageous individual hailing from a small town.

In a collaboration, Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, who have previously worked on shows like “The Flight Attendant” and “The Spy Who Dumped Me” respectively, teamed up to create this series. David Iserson took on the role of showrunner in addition to co-writing, directing, and producing. Kiera Knightley, leading the cast, will also serve as an executive producer alongside Jessica Rhoades, founder of Pacesetter Productions. Rhoades is known for her work on shows such as “Black Mirror”, “Station Eleven”, and “Dirty John”. Katherine Bridle and Alison Mo Massey, Pacesetter’s Executive Vice President, are co-executive producers.

When will PONIES premiere on Peacock?

The show on Peacock hasn’t been given a definite release date because they haven’t started filming it yet.
