Turns Out The 007 Cast Is Missing James Bond Just As Much As We Are, And I Can Surely Raise A Martini To That

As a dedicated fan who has witnessed the evolution of James Bond over the years, I can empathize deeply with Naomie Harris’ feelings about the uncertain future of 007. For decades, this franchise has been a constant in our lives, providing us with thrilling adventures and memorable characters that have become like family.

It appears that Bond 26 enthusiasts may have to wait for more information about the film, as the 2024 movie schedule seems to be lacking updates regarding this highly anticipated sequel. Interestingly, it seems that even the cast of the long-running James Bond franchise is feeling the absence of any news just as much as we are. Recently, Naomie Harris, who plays Moneypenny, openly expressed her sentiments on this matter in an interview. In solidarity, I would gladly toast to this shared sentiment with a martini.

While Ms. Harris graced the occasion to publicize her upcoming movie titled “The Wasp“, the actor from Bond’s 2012 film “Skyfall” made an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham to discuss the latest thriller. Regrettably, her comments concerning the future of the 007 series didn’t offer fresh insights. However, Naomie Harris shared a delightful piece of MI6 family cast anecdote, as you can see below:

For over a decade, I’ve been deeply involved in three different films. These movies have significantly impacted my life… Indeed, they have. They truly have. I can’t help but feel this way. As for the future, I’m clueless about what lies ahead. I don’t know where these projects are heading or which direction they might take. Frankly, I’m delighted that I’m in the dark about it all. If anyone were to tell me anything, I fear I might make a mistake and spoil things for myself.

Looking back, I hadn’t truly pondered over who might turn out to be the greatest villain in the world of Daniel Craig’s James Bond, even considering the notorious leaked call sheet from ‘No Time To Die’ that introduced Mathilde (played by Lisa-Dorah Sonnet), the daughter of Commander Bond and Dr. Madeleine Swann, portrayed by Léa Seydoux. However, according to her own statements, Naomie Harris seems to be the most plausible character harboring secrets within the recent cast of James Bond films.

Although Naomie Harris doesn’t have definite knowledge about Bond 26, she appears to be quite passionate about her possible role as 00. Despite expressing her personal desire to continue as Moneypenny in future installments, her comments don’t exude absolute confidence regarding a potential comeback.

It seems they may believe I’m the one lacking in knowledge since I’m usually the last one informed about anything, which can be quite frustrating. However, I must admit I will miss this aspect of my life because, as an actress or actor, we often feel like nomads, moving from place to place. For the first time, I had a sense of continuity by working regularly at Pinewood Studios with the same team. It’s a wonderful feeling to have that connection, so yes, I must admit I feel quite disoriented without it.

Currently, I find myself feeling quite melancholic following the revelation in Naomie Harris’ addendum about her feelings towards the series being somewhat stagnant. While us fans are disheartened by the lack of a new James Bond adventure on the horizon, it seems that Ms. Harris and her fellow cast members are experiencing this disappointment to an even greater extent.

As a devoted fan, it’s been my privilege to witness the exceptional work of Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, and Ralph Fiennes within the world of MI6. Yet, not knowing if they’ll reprise their roles in future installments leaves me feeling a bit philosophical. In light of this uncertainty, I believe it’s only fitting to raise another toast to Naomie Harris and all the talented individuals who keep James Bond’s adventures exhilarating – a gesture of gratitude for the past and an expression of hope for the future.

Daniel Craig might have concluded his tenure as 007 with “No Time To Die”, but you can still catch this movie by subscribing to Peacock. And if you fancy making a martini at home, consider using No. 3 Gin as an ingredient; I picked up this tip during my latest visit to Dukes Bar in London. We each handle the absence of James Bond differently, and as for me, I haven’t scheduled a visit to the tailor just yet.
