Could Manifest Still Get A Spinoff After Melissa Roxburgh Landed A New Show? The Creator Has An 828 Day Update

As a seasoned gamer of TV series, I can say that my journey with Manifest has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride since its debut back on NBC. The show had me hooked from the very first episode, and when it was unceremoniously cancelled after the Season 3 finale left us hanging, I joined the ranks of countless fans in petitioning for its return. So when Netflix decided to renew it for a final season, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation – would this be the end of our story or a new beginning?

A select number of TV enthusiasts can boast of experiencing as much ups and downs with a series as those who followed Manifest since its debut on NBC. The science fiction-supernatural drama launched impressively on the network, but was terminated following an enormous cliffhanger and a tragic finale in Season 3. Despite being cancelled, a significant number of fans rallied and watched via Netflix subscriptions. As a result, Manifest was revived for a fourth and concluding season, with Melissa Roxburgh and the cast reprising their roles. However, could this be the series’ final chapter? Creator Jeff Rake provided an update to fans on 828 Day regarding potential spinoff possibilities!

828 Day marks the central event of the series Manifest, which begins with the enigmatic return of Flight 828, and is commemorated annually on August 28th. However, since the final season concluded on Netflix in June 2023, there hasn’t been much to celebrate. Actress Melissa Roxburgh has moved on to a different show that doesn’t revolve around the Manifest universe. Nonetheless, creator Jeff Rake recently posted this message on platform X (formerly known as Twitter):

Is it confirmed that a Manifest spinoff is coming? No, but fans who are less optimistic can find hope in the fact that Jeff Rake continues to work towards continuing the story. As he stated, it’s been a while since he provided an update about the potential project. However, the creator has remained engaged with fans by participating in online watch parties and regularly using “#ManifestSpinOff” in his rewatch posts. He also publicized when the complete series became available for purchase starting on June 4.

Given that the fourth season of “Manifest” became available on Netflix, which isn’t typically quick to release DVDs, it was certainly a notable event to publicize! It seems clear that “Manifest” remains relevant to Rake, even though he didn’t reveal any specific details about a potential spinoff. As for what the spinoff might entail, there are plenty of possibilities following the conclusion of the fourth season.

It seems a standalone series centering on Melissa Roxburgh’s character Michaela might not be possible, given that she quickly secured another series following her debut as Justin Hartley’s screen sister in Tracker. In an interview, she discussed the differences between Dory and her “disorganized” character Michaela. Later, it was announced that she would star in a new NBC procedural titled The Hunting Party, which received a series order and is slated for release during mid-2025.

Absolutely, just because the main character from the Manifest is likely to be occupied in the near future doesn’t necessarily rule out a spinoff. It’s uncertain if Michaela would be involved in another project within that universe. Until creator Jeff Rake shares details about potential spinoff concepts, we can only engage in speculation or wishful thinking regarding post-series finale developments following the twist involving the death date.

1. It remains unclear if higher viewership could lead to a spinoff, but you can always catch up on all four seasons of Manifest currently streaming on Netflix.
