As a gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the fantastical worlds of Tim Burton’s creations, I can say with confidence that the fashion choices at the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiere were nothing short of enchanting. It was like stepping into the magical realm of Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride, but this time through a looking glass of haute couture.

At the Venice Film Festival last night, director Tim Burton unveiled the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice, titled simply as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The classic character has been brought back to life on the silver screen.

When the whacky shenanigans of the spooky game protagonist were undeniably the highlight at the Lido, style didn’t lag behind either. As a gamer myself, I couldn’t help but notice how fashion kept up with the action on the screen.

In the premiere of the sequel, the main actors adopted a technique, showcasing appearances that could easily pass as those of their on-screen characters. Let’s take a detailed glance.

Jenna Ortega in Dior

On her press tour, the Dior ambassador, alongside her stylist Enrique Melendez, has been replicating looks from the classic “Beetlejuice” movie, and this Dior Haute Couture red tulle dress is another homage to that theme. The inspiration comes from the wedding scene in the 1988 original, where Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz married Michael Keaton’s title character. For the accessories, Marisa Tomei, who plays Lydia’s daughter Astrid Deetz, opted for pieces from Dior Joaillerie such as a Bois de Rose necklace, bracelet, and rings in white gold, pink gold, and diamonds. The fiery red dress was an appropriate pick for the sweltering Venice summer night on Wednesday.

Winona Ryder in Chanel

Erica Cloud styled the venerable actress for her red carpet appearance, where she donned a Chanel Haute Couture outfit reminiscent of Lydia Deetz’s on-screen attire. The black silk tulle skirt was complemented by a fitted tuxedo jacket and vest embellished with gold buttons. Additionally, the red carpet look echoed styles from yesteryears, as it drew inspiration from an ensemble showcased at Chanel’s haute couture presentation in 2007.

Catherine O’Hara in Oscar de la Renta

“Wow, didn’t you notice Catherine O’Hara’s stunning dress last night? She was at Sala Grande and her outfit was a custom Oscar de la Renta leather column gown adorned with intricate floral designs and innovative protrusions on the top. O’Hara, who is playing Delia Deetz again, added Cartier jewels to complete the look, as Cartier is a partner for the festival.”

Monica Bellucci in Vivienne Westwood

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that the iconic Italian screen presence, myself included, opted for a unique style crafted by the esteemed Vivienne Westwood for the grand opening of the festival we all adore. Bellucci, who captivated our hearts as Dolores, Beetlejuice’s past love, graced the event with her filmmaker partner Burton, resplendent in a sleek black Dior tuxedo, as seen above. The enchanting Belluci completed her look with a stunning Cartier necklace and Roger Vivier clutch.
