As a seasoned gamer with memories of racing around as pixelated Max Rockatansky in Mad Max and watching The Dark Knight wish he had his own video game tie-in, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement at the prospect of Robert Pattinson’s Batman gracing our screens (and consoles) in a brand-new video game.
It appears that Warner Bros. Games might be working on a new project featuring Batman, hinting at the possibility of a fresh video game starring the Dark Knight. Regrettably, this doesn’t seem to be an extension of Rocksteady’s Arkhamverse, but rather offers an enticing prospect: a game set within the universe of Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie.
As a gamer, I’ve been around long enough to remember the isometric Batman from 1986, but boy, have we advanced since then! Rocksteady really made waves with their Arkham trilogy from 2009-2015, only to seem like they missed a trick with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Now, there’s speculation about Robert Pattinson stepping into the cape and cowl. Could it be him? Only time will tell!
A game in The Batman universe is apparently in the works

Back in the day, I could almost feel the excitement of stepping into the shoes of Anya Taylor-Joy, pixelated version and all, after watching Mad Max: Fury Road on the big screen. Can you imagine if there was a video game tie-in for The Dark Knight? That would’ve been something truly extraordinary!
Reeves intends to broaden the Batman universe in innovative ways, and although news about a follow-up to 2022’s The Batman has been scarce, it is confirmed that Colin Farrell will star as The Penguin in an upcoming series. Projects centered around the GCPD and Arkham Asylum have been put on hold, but there are indications that we might be venturing into video game adaptations instead.
As per Puck’s reports, the tense negotiations at Warner Bros. Discovery have triggered a massive selling off of their major intellectual properties. Earlier, we had hinted at potential troubles for Warner Bros. Games, but there seems to be a positive spin-off: it’s rumored that a video game set in The Batman universe could be under development.
The website indicates that different divisions within WBD are working together more closely for projects such as the upcoming Penguin HBO series and game, which stem from the 2022 Batman movie featuring Robert Pattinson. Details about the project’s progress or specifics are not yet available, but it appears that Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman is likely to be popular.
Players are eagerly anticipating the return of Batman, as the thrill of Rocksteady’s Arkham City remains unmatched. With Gotham Knights demonstrating that a Batman-less Batman game can still be captivating, fans have been yearning for another chance to witness the Dark Knight soaring through the skies again.
Skipping Justice League, they didn’t provide a Batman tale, one we all know didn’t end well. If Pattinson were to join in, lending his appearance and voice for a video game within The Batman universe, it would not only keep us entertained until the next film, but also enrich that world as intended by Reeves.
1. It would be prudent to view everything mentioned earlier with some skepticism, especially given KTLJ’s alleged $200 million loss from WBD. This could potentially mean that Batman games might remain hidden in the Batcave for some time. However, a game featuring the dark and gritty style of The Batman seems like it could generate significant revenue.
