As A Millennial Marvel Fan, It's Surreal Hearing Younger MCU Stars Talk About How Becoming A Superhero Has Been A Big Goal Since Childhood

As a child of the ’90s, I can still recall the thrill of witnessing Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe unfold before my very eyes, and it’s truly awe-inspiring to see how far we’ve come since then. Kathryn Newton’s dreams of becoming a Marvel superhero mirrors my own aspirations to live like Tony Stark back in the day. It’s almost like we were both peering into the same crystal ball, each of us with our very own set of hopes and dreams.

2025 is expected to bring back the usual lineup of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies, resuming their traditional storytelling style. The production gears are in motion to keep moving forward with both heroes and villains, creating numerous chances for fresh talent to participate. As a Millennial fan of Marvel, it’s almost unrealistic to listen to newer MCU actors like Kathryn Newton from Ant-Man 3 discussing their ambition to become superheroes due to their early cinematic experiences.

In this modern context, when the Marvel films started in 2008, I was quite new to my post-college life. Therefore, certain comments Ms. Newton made in her Empire interview triggered a fleeting sensation of nostalgic discomfort.

I’ve been catching those films since I turned eight, making them an essential aspect of my existence. To be candid, one of my major ambitions in my profession has always been to embody a Marvel superhero. If given the chance, I’d continue doing it for eternity.

It’s not the first occasion that Abigail from the ensemble has discussed this significant life event, as her aspirations in the comic series “Young Avengers” by Newton were likewise hinted at. This little outburst I’m making isn’t a criticism; I was just as captivated by Marvel Studios’ portrayal of her origin story unfolding live.

Nevertheless, it’s still trippy that at the time I wanted to live like Tony Stark from Iron Man, suit of armor and all, the future Cassandra Lang was looking up, too. While it’s surreal, it’s also kind of cool, especially in the wake of that recent Marvel 85th anniversary tribute video.

I haven’t broached the topic with my father yet, but I imagine he’d be quite amazed to see the comics he used to read turned into movies, even featuring the boy from “Weird Science.” Now that it occurs to me, I should inquire about my dad’s thoughts on Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Doctor Doom. This choice somehow takes us full circle.

As a gamer, it’s mind-blowing to realize that we’re approaching two decades of Marvel Studios films, which means there are young talents like Kathryn Newton maturing to don the superhero costumes and protect our world. Just as in real life, there’s a kid out there who’ll watch her performance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, dreaming of their own chances in future Marvel movies.

If Ms. Newton should encounter that strange sensation again in the future, it’d be fitting for me to extend a hand with an aspirin whenever her minor joint discomfort flares up. Think of it as a friendly tradition, particularly useful for navigating out of those vintage movie theater chairs.

The exciting realm of the MCU will carry on captivating viewers from all walks of life, with fresh films such as “Captain America: New Horizons” and TV shows like “Agatha All Along”. To ensure you’re ready for these thrilling adventures, make sure you’ve got your Disney+ membership in check. No headache pills will be provided!
