WWE's Location For Wrestlemania 42 Seemingly Leaked, But Not So Fast

As a die-hard wrestling fan with decades of watching WWE under my belt, I must admit that the news about WrestleMania 42 potentially returning to Philadelphia has me all fired up! After the electrifying atmosphere at WrestleMania 40 in Philly, it’s hard not to get excited about another main event in the “City of Brotherly Love.”

Among all the potential WWE events a city might secure, hosting WrestleMania is undeniably the most coveted. This week-long spectacle, known as the largest wrestling event globally, generates significant income. Thus, it’s not surprising that cities vie fiercely to win the bid for the opportunity. Lately, there have been rumors about the venue for WrestleMania 42, but it’s worth considering these reports with a pinch of salt, given some reasons to question their validity.

At WrestleMania 40, Philadelphia experienced a grand spectacle and offered two electrifying nights of wrestling that continue to spark conversation. City officials were overjoyed to stage this event, and, as suggested by the state governor, there is a strong possibility that the WWE may return to the city for another WrestleMania much sooner than expected.

Pennsylvania’s Governor Claims WrestleMania 42 Is Heading To Philadelphia

According to Fightful, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro recently participated in a Q&A session about X, where he excitedly spoke about numerous major events scheduled for Philadelphia in the upcoming times. In a since-deleted tweet, Shapiro seemed to unintentionally reveal that WrestleMania will return to Philadelphia soon. The tweet was quickly captured and shared by others before it was removed.

In the year 2026, Pennsylvania will be bustling with exciting events! Philadelphia, for instance, will host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the FIFA World Cup, WrestleMania, and some golf action at the PGA Championship. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will also have its share of the spotlight with the NFL Draft. There’s plenty more to look forward to across Pennsylvania in celebration of USA 250!

Given the drama of Cody Rhodes’ challenging Roman Reigns for a rematch and going on to dethrone the longest-reigning modern wrestling champion in history, WrestleMania 40 will always be a big deal. It’s exciting to think about another main event in Philly, where Roman Reigns potentially reclaims or even defends his title from Rhodes or maybe even continues his feud with his cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. However, we shouldn’t dub the “City of Brotherly Love” the location of W42 at this time.

Why WWE Fans In Philly Shouldn’t Be Celebrating Just Yet

Despite Governor Josh Shapiro’s assertion about WrestleMania, there are rumors within the WWE that not everyone agrees on the matter. According to recent reports from PWInsider, employees within the company claim they have no knowledge of any internal discussions regarding WrestleMania 42’s location or its return to Pennsylvania. Although it’s possible that Pennsylvania could be the site for the 2026 event, a final decision has not been made yet.

Exploring past WrestleManias using my Peacock Premium account, I find it’s not entirely unusual; events similar to this have occurred before. Interestingly, several cities have played host to WrestleMania more than once. Recently, Florida has been the venue for the grand event in 2017, 2020, and 2021.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming wrestling action on our screens! With 2024 quickly approaching and the fall season right around the corner, it’s essential we keep our eyes peeled for all the latest updates in the TV schedule. Let’s stay tuned to catch every moment of that anticipated wrestling content, folks!
