Call Me Bae: Ananya Panday says she was doing 'internal acting' first day on sets after coming from Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Vikramaditya Motwane's CTRL

As an ardent follower of Ananya Panday’s career, I must say her journey from the big screen to the small one with Call Me Bae is nothing short of captivating. It’s fascinating to witness how she navigates through different roles and genres, each presenting a unique challenge.

As a dedicated follower, I’m excited to share that I’m gearing up for my OTT debut with the web series, “Call Me Bae.” However, before diving into the world of Colin D’Cunha’s production, I found myself juggling commitments with other projects, such as “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan” and an upcoming film titled “CTRL.” This multi-tasking took some time to get used to while stepping onto the set of this eight-episode series. In a recent interview, I confessed that on my first day of shooting, I engaged in internal acting – a strategy I employed to navigate the unfamiliar environment with ease.

During an interview with PTI, the actress of Dream Girl 2 reminisced about collaborating with Call Me Bae’s director, Colin D’Cunha. Ananya Panday mentioned that she was being subtle in her performance, explaining, “I was doing internal acting.” However, she also admitted that he wasn’t too keen on this approach and advised her, “This won’t work here, you need to bring more energy.” As a result, it took them a couple of days to find their groove. Eventually, they figured out the right tone for the series and completed filming, which is set to debut on Prime Video on September 6, 2024.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but share that she casually mentioned in our conversation how working on her latest web series felt like a revitalizing gust of wind. She reminisced about the delightful experiences of stepping onto sets, having a blast, and engaging in playful camaraderie with her fellow cast members. This sense of enjoyment was something she also experienced while working on Vikramaditya Motwane’s gripping thriller, CTRL, as well as the upcoming 2023 coming-of-age drama film, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

In simple terms, “Call Me Bae” is a new TV show coming up, which combines comedy and drama elements. This series is penned by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair. The story revolves around a wealthy woman from Delhi who unexpectedly loses her fortune and must fight to survive in Mumbai. Directed by Colin, this production falls under the banner of Dharmatic Entertainment, a company co-owned by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta.

Right now, Ananya leads the cast in a show, and she’s joined by some talented actors like Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. A month from now, Chunky Panday’s daughter will make her appearance in CTRL alongside Vihaan Samat. The show is set to debut on Netflix on October 4, 2024. At the moment, Ananya is hard at work filming her next project called Shankara.
