In the initial stages of your first double-boss battle in Black Myth: Wukong, the encounter might appear intimidating. However, once you discover details that the game fails to disclose, it becomes less daunting.

Talking about the battle, there is a gearset you can use to defeat both the miniboss duo with ease.

Initially, it would be wise to outfit your character with the Ebongold Armor as it’s currently the most robust piece of armor you have available. This armor provides a degree of burn resistance, though it doesn’t completely shield against full-body burns; instead, it offers protection for areas like the armguard.

The second piece of equipment that will be useful is the Wandering Wight’s summon.

Key Points to Know Before Engaging in the Fight

There are two ways to approach this fight. You can either focus on the King initially or his son.

Opting for the initial option, assaulting (ultimately causing harm or death to) the King, would infuriate the Rat Prince. This action would significantly boost his powers, making his attacks swiftier and more damaging.

To summarize, you can only acquire the Rat Prince’s Spirit when he’s enraged rather than in his normal state. In other words, provoking him into an angry state will benefit you, and since this action leads to acquiring his Spirit, it essentially means that no matter what, there’s a positive outcome for you. In simpler terms, this situation is advantageous either way.

Although the father-and-son pair might seem formidable, particularly given the angry disposition of the Young Rat Prince (as mentioned earlier), here are two key points to consider that could give you an edge in the battle, should you concentrate on the prince instead of the king:

Initially, concentrating solely on the Rat Prince is what triggers the end of the battle and initiates the victory scene, unlike targeting the King first. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the Rat Prince doesn’t possess a vast array of attacks nor does he have a resilient health meter compared to other characters.

Opting for this approach reveals the King poses no threat; at worst, he may climb one of the five arena pillars to hurl pebbles your way. Remember, the key figure in this scenario is the Rat Prince, the King’s son.

The Rat Prince’s Most Common Offensive Moves

As a gamer, I find myself squaring off against the cunning Rat Prince, wielding a hefty mace in our upcoming duel. His moves are deliberate, each swing taking time to recover, giving me an edge due to his limited attack range.

It’s wise to go into a fight fully equipped. Here are some strategies that the Rat Prince uses in combat:

  • Mace Push: Here, the Son will lower his mace and get into a sprinting stance. He’ll forcefully thrust his mace at you, followed by a two-hit combo. To counter this, simply dodge to the left or right-hand side. To counter the two-hit combo, dodge backward.
  • Mace Sweep: After performing the two-hit combo, the Prince pauses for a second and instantly swings his mace at you. Here, the counter can be performed two ways: maintaining a distance from the enemy or dodging backward.
  • Ground Smash: The Prince smashes his mace into the ground twice. Countering it is pretty straightforward. However, you should be ready for the Mace Sweep that follows.

While the Prince performs other attacks, these are the most repetitive ones.

As a gamer, I find that when facing off against the Rat Prince, my best strategy lies in mastering his attack moves. Luckily, compared to other boss fights in this game, dodging these attacks feels relatively easier. What’s great is that he relies heavily on sweeping attacks, which means there’s a wide opening for me to strike back and take the offensive.

An alternative form of the leaping charge attack involves the Prince momentarily jumping up before rushing towards you, whirling his mace as he advances. To counter this move, much like with his other sweeping attacks, there’s a larger opportunity for you to execute several rapid light and heavy strikes.

As a gamer, I can tell you that you’ve got options! The Ice Spell could be your ticket to freezing the Rat Prince. Pair up some light-heavy combos with the Wandering Wight Summon, and voila! You’ll be dealing some serious damage to the Son, draining his health like never before.
