The original series, spanning nine successful seasons, featured an older character Ted Mosby (portrayed by Josh Radnor but narrated by Bob Saget) recounting to his children how he met their mother. The show maintained its longevity by keeping the mother’s identity a mystery, rotating through possible candidates such as Ted’s friend Robin (Cobie Smulders), before it was unveiled that Cristin Millioti was the Mother (her character’s name) in the finale
In a conversation with fans, Alyson Hannigan, famously known for her role as Lily Aldrin in “How I Met Your Mother,” shared a unique concept she’s been developing for a potential revival of the series. Unlike many contemporary reboots that replace the main characters and reset the storyline, Hannigan’s idea revolves around the ending of the original show. Similar to how Ted told his children about his journey, Hannigan proposes that the remaining characters gather once more, only to disclose that Ted’s tale might not have been entirely accurate. She elaborated:
“In essence, ‘Not at all! Not as you think. Let me clarify… We were much older, to begin with…’ Then we could simply reenact the scene.”
The television show “How I Met Your Father,” a spin-off from the original, was available on Hulu. Although it won two Emmys and had good viewership numbers, it was discontinued after just two seasons. Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris, who were previously on the show with actress Hannigan, made appearances in the series, but she stated that she has no plans to ever watch it herself
