Why NBC Is Moving America's Got Talent To A New Night For The Semifinals When Season 19 Is Already Almost Over

As a gamer with a knack for reality TV and a soft spot for talent shows like America’s Got Talent, I have to say this season 19 twist has me intrigued! I’ve seen my fair share of debates over the years, but never one that interferes with my Tuesday night entertainment. It’s a bit like when my favorite game glitches and I have to wait for the patch – unexpected, yet somehow thrilling.

In the 19th season of America’s Got Talent, the last round of quarterfinals has been concluded, with only the semifinals remaining before the ultimate battle for the $1 million grand prize ensues. Typically, episodes featuring live performances are broadcast on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, followed by results episodes on Wednesdays in the 2024 TV schedule. However, there’s an unusual shift in the schedule for the semifinals, which might seem peculiar so close to the season finale. This alteration is not without reason; NBC has tweaked the programming for a compelling purpose!

Terry Crews, our host, has repeatedly announced that America’s Got Talent (AGT) is set to broadcast its forthcoming episode on Wednesday, September 11, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). This particular episode will feature the performances of all semifinalists on NBC. Subsequently, the results episode will be aired on Thursday, September 12, again at 8 p.m. ET

On Tuesday, September 10, NBC, along with other major broadcast networks, will be airing a presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump. Starting at 8 p.m. ET, NBC will have a special countdown program called “Debate Countdown: Harris Vs Trump” before the debate begins at 9 p.m. Consequently, America’s Got Talent won’t be airing on its regular day and time on that Tuesday. In fact, due to the season finale of AGT being held the following week, NBC will return to Tuesday performances. After the results episode on September 4, the semifinals lineup has already been decided

The following twelve contestants are in the running to advance to the finals: singer Alex Sampson, band Ashes & Arrows, dance group Brent Street, aerialist/dentist Kelsey Jane, comedian Learnmore Jonasi (the last remaining comic after Erica Rhodes’ departure), teen singer Reid Wilson, Richard Gooddall (my personal favorite Season 19 vocalist since his first rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’s’s” performance), dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm, drone group Sky Elements, quick change magician Solange Kardinaly, young singer Pranysqa Mishra, and magician Young-Min

The finalists will be facing off against those who advanced from the semifinals, including performers who previously secured their spots thanks to the golden buzzer. You can expect to see groups like Hakuna Matata Acrobats, AIRFOOTWORKS, singer Dee Dee Simon following her second performance without shoes, and aerialists Sebastián and Sonia in the finals

Currently, the competition is wide open, and I’m hesitant to make a definite guess about who might win the golden buzzer and ultimately become the new champion. With the adjustments made to the golden buzzer rules this season, it seems like anything could happen.
