Sonic Blockchain Achieves 720ms Transaction Finality in Testnet Phase

As a seasoned researcher with a keen interest in blockchain technology, I must admit that the Sonic blockchain has piqued my curiosity. With a transaction finality time of just 720 milliseconds, it’s like watching a high-speed race where every transaction is crossing the finish line at lightning speed. It’s impressive to see how far we’ve come since the early days of blockchain technology, where transactions felt as slow as molasses in winter.

During its trial period, the Sonic blockchain network managed to complete transactions in just 720 milliseconds, making it one of the swiftest blockchain systems currently available.

Finality in blockchain means a transaction is permanent and can’t be undone once it’s recorded.

Andre Cronje, as the Chief Technology Officer of Sonic Labs and inventor of the Fantom Network, posted an update on September 8 indicating that Sonic boasts a reaction speed of approximately 400 milliseconds and concludes transactions within 720 milliseconds.

As a crypto investor, I appreciate the lightning-fast 400ms responsiveness, ideal for instant transactions. The finality of the network at 720ms is reassuring, as it’s not probabilistic – no need to wait for 30 blocks.

While other blockchains may require multiple confirmations to ensure transaction safety, Sonic expedites this procedure significantly more quickly.

In his recent post on platform X (previously known as Twitter), Cronje stated that Sonic boasts a 400ms responsiveness, making it ideal for real-time events, and has a 720ms true finality.

As a diligent analyst, I’m excitedly observing the testing stage of Sonic. According to my understanding, Cronje envisions this project as a potential frontrunner in speed once it transitions to its mainnet, making it one of the fastest blockchains available.

At present, Solana leads as the quickest primary blockchain network, boasting a transaction confirmation time of approximately 12.8 seconds. Nonetheless, Sonic’s testnet results need to surpass Solana in terms of speed and efficiency.

One significant aspect of Sonic lies in its developer-centric design. Approximately 90% of the transaction fees collected by the network are allocated towards developers, making it a captivating choice for those involved in building blockchain solutions.
