Will Netflix's The Perfect Couple Get Season 2? What Author Elin Hilderbrand Just Said

As a devoted fan of Elin Hilderbrand’s captivating narratives, I find myself utterly enthralled by the tantalizing prospect of a sequel to “The Perfect Couple.” Having immersed myself in her richly detailed Nantucket world over numerous summers, I can’t help but feel a kinship with the characters that leap off her pages.

In a unique twist, although Elin Hilderbrand often writes sequels or revisits characters in multiple novels, her renowned book “The Perfect Couple” is a standalone. Interestingly, just a week after the Netflix adaptation of the book premiered (and critics have weighed in), there’s speculation about whether the series could potentially receive a sequel starring Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber?

Hilderbrand played a key role as an executive producer in the Netflix series, mainly because of her extensive knowledge about Nantucket and the show’s desire for authentic location. The strategy paid off, with many viewers already tuning into The Perfect Couple, currently ranking as the top series on Netflix in the U.S. Hilderbrand hinted at potential future installments, stating in a recent interview that more episodes might be planned for release on Netflix.

Initially, I felt deeply disappointed. Despite my backing for any union and their right to mobilize, Netflix was seen as a major adversary at the time. However, the disappointment ran deep because of the potential impact on “The Crown” series set in Nantucket. In hindsight, it was just one significant event. Was it an apocalypse? Absolutely not. If there had been no strike and if another season is produced – though I can’t confirm that – I hope there will be more insightful backstory from Nantucket.

The part that captures my attention in that quote is where she hints at the possibility of there being more. Frankly, I wasn’t anticipating this given the prestigious actors involved (like Kidman and Meghann Fahy) and the self-contained aspect of the book. However, the notion of further developments appeals to me.

As a devoted fan, I’m not saying that Kristin Hilderbrand has officially confirmed a second season for “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix yet. However, she seems to be subtly expressing her hope for more stories involving the Winbury family or other key characters. With so many financially-driven figures intertwined in the murder mystery and considering the show’s tendency to adapt Hilderbrand’s novel with numerous changes, it’s not impossible to imagine the series finding ways to reintroduce these beloved characters.

As a gamer, I’m pondering this: What shape might Season 2 take? Could there be another tragic event weaving through our community’s fabric? Would the cast remain the same or would it resemble shows like The White Lotus, with some characters carrying over but new faces joining the scene? Or perhaps it could evolve into a family drama, mirroring the journey of Big Little Lies, which saw two seasons following its initial success (and rumors of Season 3 continue to swirl).

Could we possibly anticipate a separate Netflix series adapted from one of Hilderbrand’s other popular novels, such as “Golden Girl,” “Summer of ’69,” or even “28 Summers,” since her statement indicates that she might be focusing on different stories for a while? This would allow the show to continue without relying on the availability of Kidman, Schreiber, and the rest of the cast from the current series.
