Dexter: Original Sin Sets Premiere Date With Explosive New Teaser

As a long-time fan of the original Dexter series, I must say that I am beyond thrilled with the announcement of not one but two new installments! The return of Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan is like a dream come true, and the fact that we get to see him in his early years through Dexter: Original Sin is just an added bonus.

The eagerly awaited prequel to the popular TV series Dexter has officially set its premiere date and released a thrilling first teaser, giving fans a sneak peek at what’s in store for the new series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter: Original Sin will launch on Paramount+ alongside Showtime on Friday, December 13. Two days later, on Showtime’s linear channel, it will premiere on December 15. In this spin-off, Michael C. Hall reprises his role for the franchise by voicing his younger self, played by Patrick Gibson.

The fresh trailer exudes a powerful 90s ambiance, fitting since it’s set in 1991 Miami and chronicles the initial years of Dexter Morgan struggling to suppress his sinister instincts. In a 30-second clip, Michael Hall declares, “I am a killer, but I wasn’t born this way. I was made.” As Christian Slater (Harry Morgan) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Tanya Martin) flash onto the screen, so does Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer and Christina Millian as Maria LaGuerta. The high school life of Dexter is hinted at, along with a glimpse of James Martinez portraying Angel Batista. The trailer concludes with Hall ominously stating, “They say it takes a village to raise a killer.” Don’t miss it below!

Will Michael C. Hall Return for Dexter: Resurrection?

Immediately following the news that “Dexter: Original Sin” was being developed, another piece of information emerged – there’s also a sequel to “Dexter: New Blood” in production. Known as “Dexter: Resurrection,” details about this upcoming series, slated for premiere in 2025, are scarce at the moment. Given that Michael C. Hall’s character, Dexter, was apparently killed off, it seems challenging for him to reappear in a physical sense. However, Hall hinted that “you can never truly keep a dedicated vigilante out of action.

He previously mentioned to Variety that he’s not absolute about never doing something again. He suggested there might be some enchanting possibilities that could arise, so he wouldn’t rule out any opportunity completely. There are numerous characters in his universe who could potentially make a comeback.

Among the main figures, we find Harrison, played by Jack Alcott in “New Blood”, who previously assisted Batista in escaping after allegedly shooting his father. This raises speculation: Did Harrison actually kill Dexter, or was his aim slightly misguided? As Hall puts it, all possibilities remain open, even suggesting that the beloved serial killer could miraculously resurface.

As a long-time fan of the Dexter series, I must say that the news about the revival, Dexter: Resurrection, has me quite intrigued. Given my extensive knowledge and love for the original show, I believe it would make perfect sense to keep things consistent with Harrison as the main character, while having Hall reprise his role as the voice of Dexter’s Dark Passenger. This approach worked wonderfully in Original Sin, and I have high hopes that it will continue to do so in this new installment.
